Lightning

Kessel to Minnesota

Recommended Posts

TSN reporting that Phil Kessel is going to Minnesota to become a golden gopher. Can you imagine him playing with Potulny, Irmen, and Chuckoo. That team will be faster than ever. Plenty of skill and another year under the belt of all the fresh and sophs on the team.

InsideCollegeHockey.com says he'll be announcing his decision tomorrow afternoon...Hopefully he'll be staying in Ann Arbor.

If he does come to Minnesota, the Gophers will have an unbelievable class for the next couple years with Frazee coming in and proabably oging to start next season and Mueller and the other kid from the U-18 team coming. Not to mention Blake Wheeler. The Gophers could have a very offensive lineup come 2006.

My only concern is if all this offense can play together.

How long will he stay in Minnesota if he goes there, a year, two max? Could make for a good year or two, I really doubt he'll stay for a long time.

Hey, since I have replaced my favorite NHL team with a college team, the Gophers will be looking good probably for the next 2 season. I forgot all about Wheeler, that would be one hell of a 2006 freshmen class. I think the more offensive players like the style that Minn plays, more free wheeling and creative. It will be interesting to see as the D men get a little older and throw in the talent of the new players coming in the the current fowards.

I played summer hockey against wheeler this past summer. Needless to say we got smoked, mainly by him.

the gopher D is stocked with youngsters too. THey surely could be a powerhouse for a couple of years, depending on how the NHL thing goes

I just started watching NCAA hockey this year... Since my brother lives in St. Paul, and I get lots of Gopher games on my digital cable package I sorta adopted the Gophs as my team..

I was impressed with Kessel in the WJC's, but had no idea he was thinking of playing in Minnesota until last week. This is great news. The Gophs already play a wide-open, creative style that's fun to watch. PK and the other guys coming in will just make it better..

Anyone heard if TJ Oshie is going to the Gophers when he finishes High School this year? I thought I heard he may end up playing for N Dakota?

Hes for sure going to UND, also played against him this season up in Warroad. He sat behind me for the class AA championship after he won the single A. Pretty good high school player.
