  1. So my inline team played tonight. Lots of new guys and we're finally starting to all mesh.

We won our game in epic fashion, 7-2. In the last four minutes I blocked a slap shot with my thigh right above where the padding on my compression shorts end.

Gonna have a nice welt there. I've got three raised circles from the pegs on the puck where it hit me. Lol.

Doesn't hurt too bad but I'm waiting for it to bruise to see how much puck detail I get. Haha.

  2. Been fighting with my anxiety to get up the will power to go back to school for the past two years. In September on my 30th birthday I decided enough was enough. I went and applied, got accepted, went to put through my credits from previous school work and they only accept 6 credit hours.

Kind of disappointing when you have an accumulated 66 credit hours towards an art degree you never finished. As well as successful completion of an EMS Program at an accredited college (In going back to be a medical laboratory technologist). But it is what it is

I meet with the advisor and she tells me my experience is satisfactory and the only general ed credits I need to complete to move forward are BIO201 and CHE101. I need to complete these in the spring to be accepted into the MLT program next fall.

I go to register for classes today and it tells me I'm missing 4 prerequisites for those two goddamn classes and won't let me register for them. Which puts all of my plans back a year.

It may not seem like a huge ordeal but for someone with an anxiety disorder who has been struggling to make this move for years it feels like my entire world got turned upside down.

Sweet. I'm poor and boring so I've only got a QRL3 in a W88. Freaking awesome stick though. Digging the white graphics.

  4. At the beginning of 2016 I got back into playing hockey (inline) after not having played competetively since I was 13. I turned 30 on Monday. I struggled a lot at first. Could barely skate, couldn't even make a decent wrist shot the first season. No goals for two seasons.

Today marked the end of our third season as a team. Our roster got decimated. We lost our captain (moved), and best offensive player (son was old enough to play and couldn't afford both), and our second best player got in a car accident after our first game and missed the entire season. Leaving us with 4 skaters a game and no bench.

On the plus side the four of us got to know each other's play style very well. We lost every game but only got blown out twice. Every other team had at least six skaters.

Five games into an eight game season, got my first two goal game. One scrummy crease rebound goal and a great wrist shot.

Tonight I had my second two goal game. First one was a toe drag wrapped between the goalies skate and the post. But the second one was the most goddamn beautiful bar down backhander I've seen outside the NHL.

I swear I don't like bragging but holy shit it feels good to finally be getting an iota of offensive finesse back. We lost 4-2, but we have three new guys lined up for next season.

  5. Day one of a much needed 16 day paid vacation. Travelling back east on Monday evening to visit my mom for five days. The girlfriend has never been to Philly or Southern NJ. A childhood friends step mom owns beachfront property in ocean city and we're going to stay there a day or two. Life is good.

There is a guy on my team that smells like vomit. I mean strong like he vomited on himself and didn't shower for a week. Sure some guys stink during the game but it's never been so bad where I didn't wanna breathe or sit next to the guy. I wanna say something but nobody likes being told they smell like vomit

Bring a can of febreeze or spray on deoderant or something. Just hand it to him and walk away. Haha.

Has anyone tried or used the QR1 gloves? I found some for 75 bucks any advice?

I just picked them up on Monday for $100 on sale. Unfortunately our game this week got cancelled because only two people on the other team showed. So I've only practiced in them. They're comfortable, padding feels good and solid, construction is good. Sorry I don't have more info yet. Haha.

If it was a skill level thing, sure (I know I definitely give out a lot of suggestions for things I know I myself am not able to execute on), but in this case it definitely sounds like more of an issue with his level of effort.

Maybe he's just stupid/delusional and doesn't realize he isn't following his own advice. Haha. I give people way too much credit.

I'm not listed, but I'm trying to train my dad to ask better questions.  For his own sake and mine.  (and my brothers and aunts and uncles, who also get this information thirdhand.)

Damn. Yeah, that sucks. How long have you had the cold? You shouldn't be contagious after a few days. The hospital has to have some sort of protocol to let you still go there. You might even be able to go with your dad to talk with the doctor somewhere you don't have to worry about making patients sick.

Sorry if I'm repeating things you've already considered or tried. I work in healthcare and I know the people caring for her don't want you out of the loop. There's gotta be a way.

(heh, I have an anxiety disorder as well) The hospital decided they'll do surgery tomorrow (Monday), but since my dad's not good at asking questions, I don't know why.  I guess it's a positive sign?  I'd feel better if I wasn't getting all of this third-hand through my dad, who is not adept at relaying information.  (I have a cold right now, so visiting the hospital myself is definitely out of the question.)

Have you tried calling her doctor? As long as she has you listed as someone they can release her healthcare information to there shouldn't be an issue. But again, with the anxiety thing I know that can be easier said than done sometimes.
