i'll never understand going full gear to stick n puck. skates, gloves, helmet, stick. that's the best part of going to stick n puck

I've got a bad knee and a bad shoulder and I'm not the best skater. It's for the best, trust me. Lol. I'd rather deal with all the gear than fuck myself up and be unable to play.

I only ever got to play roller as a kid, so I'm about 3 months into ice at this point.

Looking like the company I work for is being bought by one of our competitors. We're not small by any means, but the company rumored to be the purchaser is multinational. There's supposedly going to be an announcement made soon.

Here's to hoping the rumors aren't true. Or that at least I'll still have a job after all is said and done.

It's official. If anyone in the Denver metro area has any leads on customer service management jobs, please let me know. I think I've got 3 months.

Oh. Mine are 4 roll but are a size too big - 13'' and not 12'', so I'm used to the opposite of what you tried.

He bought 12'' and thought they were 14''? Hope he can return them.

Haha. He claimed he liked them but it looked hilarious. I'm betting he's one slash away from going back to real gloves.

It would basically be Mission & Bauer (individually) vs. Alkali & Tour (I hardly ever see CCM stock inline) and I would lean Mission/Bauer in that case. I only play beer leagues now and the youngest age group I see is Juniors (21u)  but in those sectors HiLo is by far the most used. Idk about youth divisions nowadays and 80mm might be more seen in the younger divisions.

I see a good amount of CCM where I play. I'm curious now though. Gonna have to start keeping a tally at the rink.

  6. No, the refs hand out extra penalties if you try to ask them why a call was or wasn't made. They've even ejected our captain for it, telling him he can only talk to them after the game.

Also, it wasn't even his follow through. He swung the stick with enough force that it bounced straight off my stick and went flying into my face.

  7. Today I'm grateful that I play hockey with face protection.

Second inline game of the season (won our first game 2-0). We're facing a new team to the league, it's their first season there.

We're destroying them 8-1 with about 7 minutes to go in the third. Puck lands at the half boards and I'm heading towards it at about a 45 degree angle. Guy on the other team is heading for it at about the same angle but going the other way. I just barely get there first and this dude takes a giant golf swing at the puck and cracks me straight up the centerline of my cage with the shaft of his stick. He doesn't apologize and just moves on. Ref is standing five feet away. The whole team saw him watch it happen and the ref just shrugs at me. It's not like he brushed me with it or anything. It was loud. Normally I don't get worked up over missed calls but if I wasn't wearing anything I'd have a broken nose and missing teeth.

On my last face off I was against him and just kind of wrapped his stick up and shoved him out. Felt good. Haha. Final score was 8-2, but still.

No homework for me either. Not even that I don't bother to, I just forget way too easily. Granted, some kids' parents have stupid expectations. A friend of mine's parents want him to drop out of Harvard after sophmore year, start a business, and retire at or before 40. It's just insane.

I had that exact problem. I was disorganized and would legitimately forget I had homework.

Maybe it's an opportunity to learn what type of personal organization and reminders work for you. It's an important skill that you will benefit from for the rest of your life.

People in my school complaining that having a 3.5 GPA is trash, meanwhile I sit about a point below that. I would possibly kill someone for a 3.5. Also, midterms are hard.

I feel very shitty though that my biggest problems are from high school meanwhile other people are having surprise surgery, lost loved ones, etc.

Just because some people face horrible tragedies doesn't negate what you feel and go through.

Also, don't listen to those people TALKING About 3.5 being awful. 3.4 is good. I had a horrible GPA in high school because I never did my homework. Not to advocate taking such a course, but I've done just fine for myself.

Hang in there and don't let the bastards grind you down.

Edit: Sorry, long day. Just realized you may have meant you're at 2.5, which is about what I skated by at. Either way, same advice applies. Don't give up, and don't pay the jerks any mind.

Last week an old school friend died. 31, by herself. Tuesday this week, I was repairing a punctured tyre at work when my mum rang to tell me my granny had just died. Then Thursday, after we had buried my granny, my friend Colin died. If life is trying to test my resolve, I'd really like it to stop.

Anyway, I hope you all have a merry Christmas. Hug your friends and family, tell them you love them. Be kind.

Damn man. That's an awful streak. Hang in there.

  11. On Monday at work I was missing 80% of my staff. So I had one front line guy working cases and calling clinics about issues with patients lab work (I work in a preanalytical department for a medical laboratory doing problem resolution).

So I figure as the boss it's my duty to jump in and help him so he's not overwhelmed. I also had to do all my supervisory duties.

I come in today to check the numbers from the day before come to find out I worked twice as many cases as my employee did and resolved ten times as many cases.

I'd accept a slight discrepancy but we're talking 47 vs 105 here. I've had problems with his productivity before. I just can't find a way to light a fire under this guy. I just want to hook him up to something that will zap him when he starts getting sidetracked or slows down. He does great work, but he moves like molasses.
