  1. I have decided to look at custom skates again. I have 2015 1X custom skates (C/AA width), but I want a bit better heel lock. A couple of questions for some of the guys who have tried the different brands of skates... Do the Bauer 1X / 2S Pro, CCM AS1 / FT1, or Trues have the best heat mold properties? Have any of these had better heel lock than the others for anyone who has tried the different ones? Is there any real difference between CCM, Bauer or True in their custom process (do they all use a 3D print of your foot or pre-made lasts that are close)? Is the True really that much more heavy than the others (or is it mostly attributable to the steel)? Thanks for your help.
  2. I understand that Bauer will make a 3D print of your foot and make the custom skate off of that. I guess my question is if you can add extra or different foam padding for the ankle to help with heel lock? I have custom 2015 1X skates with AA heels but am looking for better heel lock (fwiw, the customizer puts me in Vapors with shallow feet everywhere but medium ankle wrap (seems true as my inner ankle bone sits a little closer to the eyelets than I'd like, but it looks like the new 1X addresses this with the offset ankles)). This leads me to the next question if the 2017 1X or the new 2S Pro has better heat moldability?
  3. Another fitting question... I have slightly narrow feet, but especially in the heel. Before I go custom, I want to see if I can find a retail fit, or figure out which boot would be best to try. I know that a Vapor D is about the same as a Supreme C width (retail); my question is whether they both have the same width of heel (i.e. is Vapor a D/A and Supreme a C/A)? Next question is typically which line has a better heel lock. So would the retail C Supreme have a better heel lock than the retail D Vapor? And if I get a AA heel in either a custom C or D width, which line should lock the heel in better? Also, what is the main differences in custom Vapor vs Supreme, as far as fit goes? I know the widths would be true to widt, so is it just things like the depth of the boot and the toe box width, etc? Thanks!
