Hi, I have a x-01 sharpener for over 4 years. I normally use the orange grinding wheels, but recently purchase the ruby wheels. I am having an issue of the grinding wheel not holding its dressing after a few passes of the skate. It seems like the wheel is very soft compared to the orange. I have never had an issue before and have been sharpening skates for over 10 years. is it possible I have a bad batch of ruby wheels (bought 3 and scared to try the other 2)? I am also not able to achieve a proper sharpening with the ruby, and unfortunately I am out of orange wheels. any help would be appreciated cheers

Sak, Thanks for your input, I am a little confused when you say blade thickness, just to clarify the picture is from the same skate, the only difference between the 2 pictures is 1 picture is with the toe pointed to the camera and the other picture is with the heel pointed to camera. The gauge is on the same spot on the heel of the blade. Cheers J

Thanks for the info guys I have no burrs, fresh tape on bottom of gauge. No marks on the gauge itself. Any other suggestions?? TIA J

No burr on the skate. As far as I can tell the blade is not bent. How can I tell if the blade is not bent? I have had this occurrence with many skates, not just mine. Thanks for your help J

Hi Guys, I am pulling my hair out trying to figure out why when I sharpen on the x01 I get 2 different readings on my guage. When I have the toe of skate pointed to me and check the level of the heal of the skate I get a good level reading. Then when I turn the heel of the skate towards me and place the gauge on the same spot on the heel I get a reading that is way of level. What gives? Is it the guage? The x01? The holder ? ( I have the upgraded pro model? Or me? ok I'm confused is the spinner suppose to be spinning freely when dressing the wheel ? My spinner does not spin at all. thanks

Hi guys, Starting to get a hang of the x-01. Is it worth buy rocker bar guides? As well I assume I would have to get a cross grinder? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Just finished trying all 4 profiles and love 90/50. All i can say is OMG this technology is amazing. I was wondering if anyone knows if there will be a 80/50 for the x01 series anytime soon? Cheers

Chadd, Thanks for the fast response!! One other question, when sharpening how long per swipe of the skate on average. Ie. size 8 skate 4 to 5 seconds? TIA

Hi guys, Recently purchased the x-01. I had a few questions that I would really appreciate your feedback, I realize some of these questions may have been asked before but this topic is over 99 pages!! 1) How often should you dress the wheel when using the same spinner, after every skate? 2)What alternatives are you using instead of tef top? 3)Do you use fine shine and lube together or separate? If separate which do you prefer? or is there better alternatives? Thanks for your time!!!
