Check the bottom of page 10, I posted a pic of mine. A year and a half in my customs now and I'm still in love with them.
-
7 out of 16 players on my one team are Asian. It's pretty impressive.
-
Happy customer regardless hahaha

One of the first questions the skater should ask the fitter is for how many years and how many times have they done custom skate fittings for.I forgot to ask that...
-
Yeah, aside from just lengths and widths, there are 4 or 5 other measurements at the very least, from what I can remember. Are there any other shops within a reasonable driving distance? You should really have someone with experience do this stuff. It'll be worth the extra effort/trouble.

it wasn't me! some people...

would it actually last?
After having my APX's for a year, the retail graphics don't last. I'm probably going to black mine out. _HSB_b345t blacked out his One60's with Bic Mark-It and said it's holding up pretty well last I communicated with him. I had photoshopped blacked-out APX's in one of the threads, but can't remember which one. Either way, the graphics grow on you.
-
Just black-out the ice APX's. Bic-Mark-it.
-
Make sure you clearly convey your likes and dislikes of your current or maybe even former skates. Try on some standard sizes in variation.
-
Hmmm...pretty sure it's been mentioned earlier in the thread that you can order a wider toe cap. Darkstar and I had 1/8" added to the width of the right toecap on my custom APX's.
Honestly, I've been wearing these skates for 9 months now and I don't have a single complaint. No pressure points, no blisters, no pains, no break-in. Could not be happier. They're great whether I just lace them up for when I coach or if I crank them tighter for when I play. If you're spending this kind of money on a skate, I'd recommend going the custom route if retail sizes don't satisfy you. Just hope whoever else does, has someone fit them that can translate and interpret what you want/need as well as I did. This board's a great resource for finding the right people. Keep track of your likes/dislikes of your current skates, try retail sizes of whatever you're ordering to figure out what feels right and what doesn't. And make sure you give as much clear feedback as possible.

Custom glove for Americans team based on NYR colorway
Single layer pro palm, pro lock thumb
Tried them on last week, comfy glove.

Ordered mine right before they started filling orders in Mid-May, they came beginning of June if I remember correctly.

I believe JR's right. I have 6 3/4 EA T7 in my left skate and 6 5/8 EA T7 in the right. Nothing to note the 1/8" increase to the width on my right toecap, though.
Above those numbers is my 5-digit code.
-
yeah you can. I would like to know what's was done to them. That possible?
Did you buy used customs and you want to find out what's different? Not entirely sure. There's something written on the inside bottom of my skates. I'll have to check next time I head out to the garage.

I have a question. When you purchase custom skates from Bauer, do they keep all your foot information? Thanks!
I believe so. I can go and reorder skates to the same spec.
-
They're custom built for you, you can get a lot more done. But Just because you can, doesn't mean you should
Amen! I kept mine pretty simple, didn't go for all sorts of bells and whistles. 6-3/4 EA on left and 6-5/8 EA on the right with 1/8" stretch on the toecap. 4 stiffness?! Wow! I stuck with the standard 2 and find them just right. How'd the "comfort edge" come out for you? I've noticed a few pics of customs that look different than retail. Mine included.
Yes, they're built in Canada.
I love them more and more every time I skate in them.
-
They look great. What was the turnaround time on yours? Hopefully I will receive mine in August.
Thanks! They started custom orders for APX's June 1st, they came in on the 28th but the ship date was originally for a little later than that. My order was put in in mid-May. A lot of it all depends on where you are in the queue. Good luck, I'm sure you'll love them!

Custom APX's came in. Finally took pics.

I ordered two different-sized APX's. I went to Darkstar for the fitting last month. 6.5D retails were just ever-so-slightly too small and narrow. 7's felt a bit too big. My X60LE's were 7EE, and the heel was too wide, so I had constant heel lift, my toes never ever came close to the toecap. My left foot's a half-size larger than my right foot. We went with 6-3/4 EA for the left and 6-5/8 EA for the right. Wider forefoot, but standard heel. We also had the right toecap stretched 1/8" since they touched a little more while trying on the retail 6.5's. The options are there if you want/need them, but the skate's pretty solid overall in retail form. The only other option I got was a 1/2" wider tongue, which Pete suggested. I just picked them up today, I'll hopefully get to skate on them sometime in the next few days.
It's a very informative and insightful process. So far, I'm really happy with the fit and feel while walking around in them. Looking forward to trying them out on the ice.
-
Then it sounds like you were fitted correctly the FIRST time.
Agreed. Only reason I'll be going down in size in the APX's is because my X60's are too big for me.
-
Awesome, epstud! I spend my Sunday afternoons teaching kids ages 3-7 to learn how to ice skate and play hockey.
-
Why? So they look more like total ones? Huh?
For me, I just like plain black skates. Nothing flashy or fancy. I would probably do the same.
-
D1. You play HNA?
HNA? I coach at my former high school, so I'd most likely take pics at that. I was going to try to make a Rutgers game this year to see one of our players that graduated last year play, but he transferred out. I try to keep up with what our alumni are up to in the hockey world.
-
Is that the D1 or D2 team? Nice shots! I'd like to take pics, but I'm usually too busy keeping stats for our varsity team and there are a few parents who snap some really great shots.

If you have a decent fitting, I don't think it should matter what sizes compare to other skates. You essentially start from scratch.
