  1. Any guys skating the m8 is there a noticeable difference in stiffness between this and the mako 2?
  2. Any of you guys wearing shot blockers with your skates? If so anything that fits slim and close to the boot.
  3. Did you guys have any issues with numbness? Long story but roughly a year ago I had a pair of mako 2s but was having some issues with my feet going numb, this was around the time they had their fit guarantee. I had broken my ribs and was a little stressed about the feeling in my toes so I returned them and went with vapor x100s because I didn't have much time to mess with the fit. Fast forward to now and I'm not having a great fit in the bauers but they are the best fit I can find but the boot is breaking down and am getting close to picking Up a new pair of skates. I loved the fit of the makos just want to see if there is a method for helping with the numbness.
  4. I'm getting more and more excited about these skates, especially now finding out the shop that sharpens my skates is a VH fit center (jakes pro-shop in El Segundo, CA) I've been through the ringer with skates lately. Total Ones that I modified to fit better (increasing the size of the tongue and boot modification) to Mako II's that had great wrap but I didn't feel super secure laterally and had tons of numbness due to most likely over-tightening, so I got rid of those and I'm in Bauer x100's which I mostly like but I'm constantly re-tying them on the bench. I generally skate 3-4 days a week but am still pretty afraid of taking the plunge on these guys. It seems like they are stiff enough laterally, like they will fit my thin ankles, and it seems like most of the quality issues have been handled. I've definitely read this thread from start to finish, How are the guys with the newer design feeling?
  5. I pulled the trigger and returned the skates tonight. I really wanted them to work, actually really loved the CXN holders and pitch just the issues with the fit around my ankle made me feel less confident. I picked up x100's because I wasn't digging the lacing system on the APX2, the extra money I saved I put it toward a new bucket. I'm sure my Mako experiment isn't done but for now it is.
  6. yeah losing circulation in both feet, I'm losing it in 3 little toes on both feet. I'm playing tomorrow so I'll be trying to tie them looser and see how they feel. I'll be bringing my total ones as well
  7. I'm pretty bummed about it. I have one crap ankle and thats the one I'm having issues with, I don't want to have to wear a brace under my boot if I don't have to. I'm pretty bummed about it. 8. having difficulties with my Mako 2's and I might be selling them soon. I'm having issues with the wrap and circulation in my feet, I had them fitted all seemed well but I was having an issues with numbness when skating. when I crank them down to feel the support I need I lose circulation when I keep them loose I feel like they are too loose and have actually tweaked my ankle twice (which I've never done in any other skate) trying to figure out if I'm used to a stiffer skate (total ones, and APX) and the softer boot it just making me feel unstable. I missed the 30 day return policy by a couple days, waiting to hear back from a rep hoping he can help me out.
  9. Little progress report today on the mako 2's.......I can't say enough good things about them, when I hopped on the ice I was already thinking about the pitch but within 5-10 mins I was totally fine on them. immediate take aways were I felt more explosive off the line, the turning radius is bananas and I could really feel my edges forward and backward crossovers felt really powerful and stable. I tossed on my total ones at the end of the session and they felt clunky and a bit slow. The skate felt really comfortable toward the end of the session smallest 2 toes on my left skate got a little numb but I'm sure that will work itself out with with wearing them, and lacing. I found that I didn't need to crank these down to keep them tight, where as the total ones I was using waxed laces and between 2nd-3rd period I was generally tightening stuff up again. Hoping to get these into a game situation next week at some point, but so far so good.
  10. I just picked up a pair of Mako 2's and I'll be skating them tomorrow morning at a stick time. I'm excited and afraid at the same time. hahaha
  11. I'm less worried about the pitch but curious of durability of the m8. Went to my LHS and the kid had no idea on how to fit the sites and tried to get me into a pair of RBZ when I'm complaining about how I need a less wide skate. I have a hockey monkey about 2hrs away from me this might be the road I need to take.
  12. Has anyone heard any feedback on the M8? I've been looking around but with them being so new, there isn't a ton of info. I'm curious how rough a $600 dollar skate is?
  13. The closest shop is about 1.5 hrs away from me, last time I was there they didn't have anything C width. The shop that does all my work is amazing but doesn't carry easton stuff which kills me because the guys there really know what they are doing
  14. I've been reading through this thread like crazy and been doing as much research as possible but one question still lingers. How is this skate fitting people with thin ankles and not super wide feet. I'm currently wearing total ones with felt sewn to the back of the tongue to clear up some volume issues but even tonight I could still feel my feet moving back and forth toward the top of the boot. I've tried x 7.0's, offering from reebok even graf (I didn't like the way the boot felt) I wear D width skates but realistically could probably get into a c width. I'm def going to try the skates on within the next 2 days but before I make the trip to a shop where I can have them fitted correctly (the shop closest to me has all kids working in there that give you the skates and walk away). I guess I'm just paranoid on dropping a chunk of money on a pair of skates and not being totally satisfied.
