  1. High school hockey players. Oh my god, what a joke. I was back home and went to a drop in to keep my legs fresh. wow. I don't know why but for some reason high school players across the country seem to think they are in the show. I had a couple of buddies from my team with me and we absolutely destroyed them. Didn't even touch the puck, but then in the room after they talk about how they weren't trying or skating hard. PUHHHLEASE. Like how can they not realize they are not good?
  2. My LHS has really gotten on my nerves. Most of their staff are high school hockey players (don't even get me started on them)and they basically sit behind the counter and act like customers dont exist while they are busy texting or talking about partying. Really disappointing
  3. why the heck does any company ever ship using UPS? UPS is the most expensive shipping service and it takes longer to arrive at its destination. I ordered a stick and had to pay 14 dollars for shipping through UPS and didnt get it until 7 business days after. Then, I ship a stick to somebody using USPS, pay 8 dollars and they get it in 3 business days!
  4. Went to the doctor four years ago and mentioned something about my ankle hurting a lot. A month before that I had landed on the side of it and it got black and blue and insanely swollen, but I didn't get it checked out. Anyway, the doctor told me there was nothing wrong with it. Now, four years later, after experiencing constant pain in my foot, my knee feels weak. While I'm running, I blow out my knee and when I go to the doctor they tell me that I had torn tendons in my foot which went unrepaired and over time weakened my knee which cause me to tear my mcl.
  5. I should have fully elaborated on my example more. What I meant is that when people argue lhs vs online store, it is like the same debate of buying fake jerseys vs real ones. One side will say that one provides a cheaper product and the other will say that we should spend our money here. It was more of a general observation than a rebuttle. I fully understand that people think it is bs when a person comes to there shop only to try out and item but not to buy. However, you have to look at it through the eyes of the consumer. You take a risk when buying something online in the sense that you cannot try it out. However, if you lhs has it, you can check it out, then buy it cheaper online. I mean in the eyes of the lhs owner, it is a pretty s***** thing to do, but in the eyes on the consumer, it is a reassuring thing a person can do before they invest in a product. The problem is, this has become the norm with my lhs. It is why I take my business elsewhere. Unfortunately, we all have different experiences with our respective lhs so it is hard to properly debate this topic. One person's lhs could have great customer service and offer awesome incentives to buy, but another person (like me) could have just the opposite. It makes debating tough.
  6. I understand, however, it is because of things like I stated that people get turned off by LHS. Its kind of like when people debate buying fake jerseys overseas and then the whole "shipping jobs overseas, keep money here" argument comes up.
  7. The problem with most of the LHS I go to is that they offer no incentive to shop there. A lot of the time I'll go into a shop and its just run by complete amateurs. The only LHS I will really shop at is this place down in Ft. Myers, FL (I go there on vacation a few times a year). They offer great customer service and they will bake skates for free and throw in things like tape or something if you buy a stick. Even that small incentive makes a huge difference. Then, you look at online and they'll give you rewards cards, free shipping, etc.
  8. anyone know where I can get a pair of Detroit Red Wings pro stock gloves!?!!?!?

  9. Interesting that you say that because there are actually people here who do that lol. We have our lhs that never stocks good equipment then the next quality store is about an hour and a half away. Some guys will buy high end twigs then sell them for a little bit more to make a little profit.
  10. I'm all for supporting local business and all, but buying online has too many benefits. Just looking at sticks, there are more options and they are usually a little bit cheaper. I buy most of my stuff from totalhockey and they give you free shipping so the $200 I spend on an x60 is actually $200. At my LHS, it would be around $215 with sales tax.
  11. Not neccessarily because some sticks are stiffer than there indicated flex ratings. So say I pick up a Warrior stick that says its 85 flex. Well, imo, warrior sticks are stiffer, so that 85 flex is actually closer to 90 before its cut. That makes a huge difference on the ice.
  12. hockey is the most expensive sport by far, which is why I don't understand how some shop owners can complain about people flexing sticks. Yeah, I get that you don't want people damaging sticks, but put yourself in the place of the customer. would you spend top dollar on a stick before flexing it? I know I wouldn't. unless it is a stick I have used before I usually flex it to see how it responds.
  13. Fantastic. Now they are mainstream and I can't listen to them anymore ahaha What did you think of them?
