  1. Don't tie your laces anywhere near as tight as you're used to. There's no reason to when you have such good wrap.

Optimus is rite and just to build on what he said I only tighten up the top three eyelets at most and it feels perfect. It will take some tinkering with to find what works best for you but just have some faith in the wrap of the skate it will blow your mind when you do.

  2. From what I read and have heard the next Easton skate is definitely on a bit of delay. Let me start by saying I own mako two and I am a huge fan. the delay I heard is in the design phase. Apparently Easton is continuing to struggle with finding a way to include all there great features without the skates costing so much money or them losing money. Just what I heard.

  3. Finished product:

    2hyaz2g.jpg

Replaced all of the t-nuts as they were getting badly corroded.

Next time I have to pull them off, i'll be ordering some stainless steel hardware.

Hey did you have to drill all new holes for the new holder or did it match up pretty well?

  4. I don't know if this helps but I have been wearing the Mako 2 for almost a year and worked at a pro shop for over a year. In my experience a lot of people with wide feet have found great success by going up a half a size for the mako line myself included. Personally The D to E measurement doesn't do very much. Hope that helps.

  5. Agreed 100%. However, I'd be more liable to think the reason they might not stretch at all/very well is having a non traditional design, ie not a dedicated outsole. My Vapors with a carbon fiber outsole stretched okay, then again, it's a totally different skate and design.

Why not just call up Easton and ask? Jimmy or JR might not respond to this thread right away unless notified.

Hey ziggy I can just tell you from my experience as not only working at a proshop but also a happy owner of the mako 2 that you shoul go the half size up where they feel a little bigger. That's what I did and it was the correct choice. A friend of mine also got these skates and did not opt for that extra half size and needless to say he is not enjoying the skates the way I am and has switched back to his old wheels

  6. Hi everyone,

I'm hoping that someone can provide me with some insight as to what direction I should go? Pretty much just resigned to men's league for the rests of my days skating. I'm ready to buy what I'm thinking will be the last skates I ever buy, especially at current price points. As of this point in time, I'm between buying the Mako 2 or Bauer MX3's. Here's my dilemma, my favorite skates of all time are the Micron 10-90 Megas. I'm not sure wht it is, but it seems these skates almost forced you to skate properly. I feel that simple in terms of skating that I played my best hockey wearing that boot. Since the demise of Micron I've pretty much been in Bauer Supremes. They have always fit well, but I've always felt that my skating has been slightly off. I switched to Graf G35s about 4 years ago and I love the pitch, how the boot is designed, etc, but they do not fit me properly. The front part of my foot is squeezed, and the large ball towards the back of my big toe on the side just gets rubbed raw. Developed a big corn on both feet. Can't wear the skates without a corn cushion period. I've never loved a skat so much that fit so terribly. The kid who sold them to me swore that it was a 3d moldable boot, it's not.

Anyway, do I go for tried and true fit in Bauers, but what I consider to be just slightly off balance (for me) & performance in skating? Or do I give the Mako 2 a shot in what I hope is an innovative skate, hopefully comparable to Micron Megas or Daoust?

The main hangup I have is everything I've ever owned by Easton usually breaks down way too fast. I'd hate to spend roughly $800 and then regret it 6 - 12 months later!

I am currently in the Mako 2 and could not be happier. It is truly a one of a kind fit once you heat mold the skate. As someone who has worked the retail side of the business I can tell you for a fact the MAKO 2 skate has a real bad wrap because of a few defects from its previous version combined with a large price for a skate that will more likely then not feel absolutely horrible out of the box. I could not be happier with the skate the slight aggressive pitch and 360 custom fit is amazing.

    Hope that helps.

  7. Looking to mount a hummer on my ice skates. Problem is in the UK I can't see tnuts anywhere online, and I'm also unsure of what material to make shims out of to create the clearance required.

Can anyone guide me in the right direction?

Knights 15 in my personal opinion your best bet to get it done right is to contact a hockey shop and have them do it for you. I was in a situation where I negotiated my conversion completely over the phone. Yes it may cost a couple more bucks but it ends up being well worth it. I have done a few conversions in my day and know that if you don't know what your doing you could mess up a lot of things.

    Item History

Size 15. Black glove with white font.

Purchased this item two years ago.

Product I am coming from: Multiple pairs of Bauer 4 Rolls and Eagle X95 Tuffek

    FIT

The Easton Synergy EQ Pro had an amazing first impression. Typically when buying gloves I always run into the same problem of some type of unwanted stiffness especially in the forehand that takes multiple games to break in. The fit was perfect and did not have any bulky feeling that I experienced with other traditional 4-roll gloves. There seems to be a great distribution of space in this glove. My hand never feels suffocated smushed or have any pressure points of any kind. Once you break this glove in you will love it even more mark my words.

    Overall Fit. Rating:10/10

    Protection

This glove has plastic inserts that still hold up very well after two years. I have taken more then my fair share of slashes to the hand and have barely felt a thing. The cuff does seem to have a little bit of extra length to it which has saved my wrists on more then on occasion. My only hesitation would be I have not been able to wear these gloves in a high level game so I am not positive that it will hold up in a higher level game such as college.

    Overall Protection Rating: 9/10

    Weight

This is by far the lightest traditional 4-Roll I have ever come across. During games I barely feel like it is on. The all nylon shell definitely comes in handy and at no point has it felt like it has gotten heavier during games due to absorbing sweat.

    Overall Weight Rating: 10/10

    Durability

This unfortunately are where like most Easton products the gloves come up a little bit short. The nylon shell does happen to get a few cosmetic splits. I currently have one on my left gloves thumb. The hole started small about a year ago and has since expanded to be significantly bigger. Again nothing more then cosmetic, has not effected the overall protection of the glove in the least.

The palm performance is phenomenal. Coming from a ball hockey background as a child I grew very comfortable to playing without gloves so I really like that aspect. Unfortunately like any glove over time the glove does begin to get holes. For me they started about 4 months into having them. The holes started to pop up between my fingers. Currently I have two small sized holes on my right hand. Very important to keep the palm is dry as possible. I remember playing in a few tournaments and found the feel of the glove to get a little worse when not having significant time to air out my gloves.

    Overall Durability Rating: 8/10

    Intangibles

The look of this glove is simple and classic which I love. The palm performance is phenomenal and provides excellent feel. As I said above once you break it in it often feels like I am not wearing a glove at all. The fit of this glove is key in my opinion. This glove does NOT feel bulky at all and the weight is fantastic which were two qualities other gloves I had in the past were lacking.

    Overall Intangible Rating: 9/10

    Conclusion

Depending on where you look this glove is on a couple of clearance section. The senior glove will run you anywhere from $60.00-$90.00 which is a huge steal for this glove. Although the glove does have minor durability issues the performance will more then put your mind at ease. The mobility and fit are spot on. I have already purchased two more pairs because obviously this particular model is not being made anymore.

Easton Synergy EQ Pro Senior Glove Overall Rating: 46/50
