  1. Yup, thanks guys. Blackstone confirmed that it was a soft wheel and sent me a new orange one right away. Great service! And now, back to sharpening! :)
  2. Hey guys, Bought an X01 last year and just changed the grinding wheel for the first time today. Original wheel was orange and the other wheel that came with the purchase was ruby. So anyway, I put the ruby wheel on today and attempted to sharpen a set of skates....and let's just say, it didn't go too well. With barely any pressure on the skate, sparks were flying and a loud grinding noise took over. I shut off the machine quickly to reveal the following: As you can see, the skate sharpened the wheel instead of the other way around. The wheel now has a deep indent in it and the skate blade is rounded the wrong way. Has anyone had this happen before? Could it be a wheel gone bad (i.e. too soft)? Will be calling BlackStone tomorrow, but figured I'd post here tonight to see if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks!
  3. Awesome, thanks guys! I'll try this out and see how it goes.
  4. Maybe you're right. When you dress the wheel, do you just "kiss" it for a split second? Or do you hold for a bit until all the black marks disappear from the grinding wheel?
  5. Hey guys...just picked up an X-01 and I'm loving it so far. Only one complaint (and I'm hoping it's just my lack of experience). It seems like the only way I can get a good edge on my skates is if I dress the wheel before sharpening each skate. I had thought you only needed to dress the wheel one every few pairs, but if I do that, I basically get a flat blade. Is there something I'm doing wrong here? I probably can't keep this routine up because I'm already halfway done my first grinding wheel after a month! Thx!
