thanks, i guess i missed that.

do you know when replacement blades will start arriving at most LHS/ online stores?
-
i'm wondering about this as well. i've been meaning to apply some heat there for some extra heel lock.
-
Does anyone know when new replacement steel will be available for these?
-
After a nice solid skate and a skate profiling (putting me at 10 radius) these are really starting to show their abilities. The only complaint i have right now is i'm not getting ideal heel lock on my right foot. I'm going to spot heat them before the next game. Id also like to up to an 11 foot radius if i can. Right now my hollow is at a 3/4th but i think with an 11' radius i'd go 7/8 and be flying out there. It's a beer league so pivots and cycling aren't all that important. straight speed is where it's at.
-
that's intense. i'm shocked the radius is only a 9. when the forward pitch is aggressive like that isn't it common to be on an 11 radius ?
-
Why didn't you like the CXN holder and runner? What is the pitch on stock Makos anyway.. 1+ inch?

You can't change the shape of a boot but the molding ability helps with the various crevices and intricacies of a persons foot. I'd imagine if you need incredibly wide skates like a nexus you wouldn't really be able to mold these to fit your foot that well. Someone coming from supremes or vapors have a better chance of fitting into the skate. Gotta just try them.

Game 1 review. I'm not going to reiterate all the positives of the skate because i think at this point everyone has been spot on about comfort, flexibility/mobility and natural stride. It's all on the money. I'm going to focus on some of the minor things that could throw people off initially. In terms of fit i think they're perfect after i baked them. Without a doubt the most comfortable boot i've ever put on. The forward pitch did throw me off. I felt i was always in an aggressive stance, and if i was still back in my prime teen/early 20's days i would have really welcomed it. As a 30 year old that plays in a beer league now i reckon they definitely tired me out quick. So, yes i'm going to have to get used to it. There's no real leaning back on your heels taking a breather with these, which brings me to my next point and minor gripe. The tendon guard felt almost nonexistent to me after the first skate. At 6ft 205lbs leaning back in anyway made it seem as if they weren't even there. Maybe it's because i'm coming from a not so flexible tendon guard (vapor x60s) or i just enjoy freeloading too much. These skates are definitely suited for the optimal skater. The responsiveness, the natural motion, the aggressive turns, it's phenomenal and let me tell you getting them sharpened today at a rink that does not carry these in their HS had multiple people turning their heads asking what they were, some guys even walked up saying wow those look amazing. They definitely look way better in person, especially on the ice with the orange tendon guard sticking out. I'm incredibly happy with them. The only other thing i can say is i hope they last. They are so insanely mobile you have to wonder if they'll go soft too soon. That MLX team with the Easton support behind them really put together a skate that is unlike anything else on the market. It's hilarious to see how much "hate" comes from the Bauer faithful... I had people dogging these skates even before they knew what they were. Teammates of mine were trying on the new APX 2's and the NXG's before the game and then in the locker room after the game they asked to see mine and were literally blown away... some guys just couldn't believe it. Everyone should at least see if these are a good fit. Try em on.

You're probably right.

16min probably just gives you a better bake compared to 10min. They wouldn't have printed 16 if it was going to somehow ruin the boot. Surely, they had tested this out well before releasing the skate? As anyone that bakes anything on a regular basis should attest to there's always room for error.
-
Because first they said 16 then they said 10.
-
Don't be telling me this now... i've heard Easton has always been atrocious when it came to warranty claims. It's the main reason the major LHS in my area stopped carrying Easton equipment. I put both skates in at the same time for 13min. Flipped them at the 6.5min mark. Didn't know whether to follow the MLX instructions or the Easton ones so i went with 13. Seems to have done the job.
-
Read up top, people have discussed this. I just baked mine at home. I decided to go between the 10min suggested by Easton and the 16min suggested by MLX and other people in this forum. They came out pretty warm and molded incredibly to my foot. Now they're in the freezer for 20min. Gotta say i'm really pleased with the baking process. Everything people have said here in this thread is spot on. They come out literally like jellow and soft in the inside. Can't wait to see what they're like on the ice.
-
I feel like i'm asking 100 questions... What's the lacing pattern i see on the mlx video? is the skate laced outside in the whole time or do they switch every eye lit from outside in to inside out ?
-
so the two closest LHS only have mission skate baking ovens at the shop. Is this sufficient? I mean it's just an oven right? Or should i travel an extra distance to go with the Bauer oven? I feel like i should just throw these in my damn oven but i've heard people say go with the actual skate baking ones.
-
this isn't even a debate. Any recent top of the line vapor or supreme is lighter than these Makos. I don't think this will be a problem but i do wish they were a tiny bit lighter. I'm just wondering about the steel. Those that have managed to skate in this how do these compare to LS2s/fusion?
-
the only complaint i can see so far with these skates is that they are a little heavier than vapors/supremes. Is it the blade that's heavier? How is that blade compared to popular ones like LS2s or the new ones on the APX2s??
-
I saw your picture... not nearly as bad as yours but then again yours was up top, mine is down low. So.. which should i go with? i've heard 10 is sufficient and that is why easton went with that but 16 is really what they should be?
-
Skates came in today. I gotta say they look way better in person and i don't think i'll even black out the heel. Prob just add some black laces though. The 8D lengthwise seems to be the right choice for me however it's literally impossible to get my foot in the boot right now unbaked. I also have a bit of volume issue in the forefoot, i can't even tie the laces. I hear all this will go away after baking? I really hope so.
-
well that's good then cuz if you don't like it then just peel it off.
-
is he really going to post the pics and not tell us how he did it!?!?
-
nah, the orange is fine. i really just have a problem with the heel being silver... i don't know why they decided to do that. i can't imagine the focus group came back positive on that.
