  1. Just posted the new Shanahan/P10/Pro Kane/Pro Giroux in my other thread. Just a heads up for old timers, the old Coffey pattern is in the works. Feedback definitely influences future patterns. The Shanahan project is a prime example of that!
  2. Here are the first photos of our new Shanahan/P10/Pro Kane/Pro Giroux pattern. I'll post higher quality ones when I get my first demo on these. These are available in both LH and RH. Contact me direct if you'd like more information.
  3. Well it's on the way, we're taking orders now.
  4. Great eye. Brett Hull pro is the exact blade I used when I originally made my own pattern. It has been straightened and the toe shape modified with extra material to square off the top portion. The rocker is unchanged and a clone of his pro pattern.
  5. Retail does have a BASE logo and blade stiffness rating. Mine is a custom pattern so I just put my last name there.
  6. And for informative purposes I will post photos of the weights in grams on a scale. The first photo is of shaft only weight, and the second photo is of blade and shaft together. I have cut 3 inches off, but this gives you a very good idea. My blade is definitely not on the larger side, so I will say that weights are not exact from stick to stick. However, the Nasty R is definitely one of the lightest sticks on the market.
  7. After messing around with all of my demo sticks I have recently transitioned to a Nasty R shaft and blade, which I love. I just received my own personal Nasty R today and thought I'd share a couple of photos. This is 90 flex with my own custom pattern which is a very straight pattern with a ton of rocker. I use the gloss grip myself, with our newest "S" Stiff blade flex.
  8. Our Shanahan blade will be an Easton clone, square toe, lie 6 in left and right. It will be available in .520 tapered blade or OPS. 3 blade flex options will also be available for this. Ordering information is located in the original post. Keep posting requests... new possibilities in the future.
  9. When you say standard are you referring to .620? Most of our blades are .520 tapered and short hoseled. Certain blades like the kovalev pro are .620 and left only. I can check into the hosel length of this blade if that is what you are referring to.
  10. The website isn't likely to update anytime soon. There is a link in my original post here (at the bottom, before the photos) with a link pointing to ordering information.
  11. As much as manufacture standardization would be great, every manufacture is going to have their own rating process..at least for the time being. Plus, kick points and other variables are always going to vary how a stick feels in regards to flex. Some manufactures are known for playing stiff. I do not believe we have that reputation and have had good feedback in that area. Junior sticks are going to accept junior blades and and SR, INT accept senior. Offering shaft options as opposed to OPS only allows you to chose the blade that best fits your own game. JR flexes - 25, 40, 50 INT flexes - 45, 55, 65, 75, 85 SR flexes, 75, 80, 85, 90, 95, 100, 105, 110, 115, 120 There are plenty of options there from us. I wish I could take any guesswork out of it for you.
  12. I still need to reply to your email, and will do so quickly. To update you on blade selection we are no longer labelling blades by name.. Nasty, Savoy, etc.. they will simply be Regular, Stiff and Xtra Stiff. They are all top notch materials and the weave does not reflect style, weight or quality but rather feel, stiffness and flex. As you can see in my original post the XS blade has a different weave than the other 2. The perception to some would be that the larger weave is a higher quality product, and that simply is not the case.
  13. Our grip powder matte is similar to Warrior's velvet grip.
  14. Bauer 190 ice boot Mission magnesium chassis Full ceramic speed skating bearings (not just the balls) Revision Steel wheels Custom heel riser made from F1 racing grade machinable plastic Mounted myself as far back and also offset (trained from RHI Bullfrogs equipment manager) Yellow Superfeet insoles
  15. I have spoken to the owner of our company, and this topic could very realistically become reality. I have been asked to perhaps request pictures and collect specific lies and details. I specifically discussed the pro Kovalev blade. Currently it is left hand only and .620 as Kovalev never liked OPS or .520 tapered. Would you like to see this curve converted to .520 tapered or would the public prefer Kovalevs .620? The sample Shanahan curves we have samples of are two different versions. Which version would the public like to see retail? Photos and more specifics the better.
  16. I should add that the Warrior velvet grip and our matte grip are indeed similar. However Warrior uses a 1 step process to add the grip, while Base uses a two step. We first spray a primer type layer to help adhesion and then follow that with the matte grip finish. It is slightly more costly for us to do it that way but we feel it makes for a better end result.
  17. There is no difference in weight between those two grips finishes. Both finishes are similar in terms of durability. I personally use the grip gloss and love it. The grip gloss provides slightly more grip. It really comes down to feel and personal preference.
  18. The old chrome Gretzky shaft..there's some nostalgia. I actually saw someone at the local rink using one of those recently. I recall goalies complaining the light reflecting off the shaft would blind them. To answer your question, ideally you would be fitted for a stick at a Base Hockey shooting analysis center. There, you could try before you buy all of our blade curves and stick options using a high speed camera and get feedback from a trained shooting expert. Locations are on our website and occasionally traveling mobile centers could be in your area. Every stick manufacture has a different way of rating flex. Even the rating on our mid-kick vs low or dual-kick can feel different in the players hands. For example I feel that a 90 Nasty R feels closer to our 85 Supernatural..and that is because of the dual kick points changing how it feels. The good news is, we offer variables of 5 on the senior sticks from 75-120. At a fitting center, this option is amazing for dialing in the exact flex for your game. However, I understand not everyone can make it to a fitting center so obviously there is some guesswork in what you would order. I can tell you our feedback has been good in regards to stick flex being accurate and/or what the customer expected. Our intermediate shafts are available in 45, 55, 65, 75 and 85 so there are also lots of options there. These shafts accept senior blades. Our new blade flex option is something you might want to consider as well. The (R) Regular version loads much easier than what you probably have traditionally used in the past. Do you remember the old white Christian blades used by players like Brett Hull? Those blades were known for being very soft and quite popular with a lot of professionals. Blade flex has been an option for professionals for years and an option we believe will be popular at the retail level as well.
  19. The Supernatural is also on the boxy side, although I still find it comfortable in my hands. The Nasty and Nasty R have slightly rounder corners and definitely not boxy.
  20. I cannot speak for Sherwood or True. I can however say that last I knew True was no longer offering custom molds on a retail level. This information comes from me as a previous customer of theirs going back to the Combat days before Base even existed. And back then, I did pay a $500 mold fee plus minimums that kept changing from 6-12 depending on what rep you were dealing with. This may have changed as of today, I do not know. In regards to Base custom molds, it has been done in the past but is not where we want our focus to be. With that said, there are two different types of molds. The cheaper option has a relatively short life expectancy and will eventually break after a couple dozen blades are created. This is not ideal for bulk production. The expensive mold is designed to mass produce blades for retail volume. As stated, MSH member feedback is listened to and appreciated by us. New curve patterns are a possibility in the future if the demand is high.
  21. Ok, so in my other thread I was getting requests for possible future curves. Pro Kovalev and the classic Coffey are examples of requested curves not currently offered by Base Hockey. This thread is for customer feedback and I will definitely keep a tab on all of the requests, whether it be curve, lie option, or a modified existing curve. Here at Base Hockey, we listen to customers and welcome feedback on all levels. With that said, blade molds are not cheap and there are no guarantees that these will ever become retail. So have it, let's hear your requests. The more heavily a blade is requested, the more likely it could become a reality. Edit: Interest in this topic has lead to BASE introducing a Shanahan/P10/Kane pro. I can be contacted at the following link for ordering information.. http://www.basehockey.ca/shafts-blades
  22. I think I will start a curve request thread. No guarantees here but it gives us quality feedback, so why not.
  23. This is also a future possibility. I will try and get some photos of our curve database and get them posted.
  24. Yes, junior and intermediate are also now offered as shafts.
  25. I will have to double check but I believe the standard finish is called clear gloss or clear matte. Shark Skin is the other option, which has a sandpaper like feel and adds strength without adding much weight. My demo blades all have this finish.
