  1. I also do 1-2 passes each time I skate. I also wear my skateguards from locker room to bench.
  2. I have Step Steel in my skates. I emailed and got a response from Sparx. The Sprx reply was informative, but I was unable to confirm anything from their reply. I think I’m going to check the level at my skate shop and go from there.
  3. I get different readings using the Sparx edge checker if I do it with the toe facing me versus doing it with the heel facing me. The edge check is spot on with the toe facing me, but with the heel facing me it’s off by two lines. Could the edge checker be defective? Anybody have any thoughts on this?
  4. That makes a lot of sense. But, I am going to upgrade his steel. At age 14, we haven’t noticed a difference in his on ice performance.
  5. This is a little weird. First off, we use of the 5/8 ring.So This is a little weird. First off, we use of the 5/8 ring. I skate on high-end skates with step steel. My son skates on mid range skates. Being we have the sparkx machine, we do a 1 to 2 pass tuneup before we skate. We noticed this morning, with the edge checker, that my skates were absolutely perfect. My sons skates however, were off by almost 2 lines when using the Sparx edge checker. Kinda weird, any ideas?
  6. I have been using 3/4 hollow for the past few months, Now with very cold weather I feel that I’m not getting much grip and thinking about going back to 5/8 being the ice seems to be harder. Does this make sense? How many cycles you think I would need to go from 3/4 to 5/8? thanks
  7. Yup, my mistake. It wasn't hijacked...my apologies.
  8. THis thread was about the case and options. Why was it hijacked?
  9. That looks great, hoping to find that case also. Did you buy the foam separately?
  10. Considering I want to protect the machine while at home, and not really travel much with it.....I think the smartest choice would be the Home Depot one. $49 with a little extra foam will work just fine for me....thanks for the info.
  11. I’m going to look around for a week or two before I spend $400 on a case. Sparx will likely be the only option and I will eventually buy the case from them. Glad I found this board, looking forward to participating.
  12. I received my Sparx machine a week ago. My 14 year old uses 5/8 and I skate on 3/4. I really like the ease of changing the grinding wheels. I am looking for a carry/storage case for it. I really don't want to spend $399 for Sparx's case. I plan on getting a case that is the same size as the box my machine came in. I am planning on using the interior packing material that came in the shipping box. Anyone have any thoughts on this or already found a case? FYI...this is my first post, just joined this group.
