I really don't think it's drastically different from P28. I have both and held both up side by side before my game Sunday night. I could barely tell a difference other than the toe kink you describe. P90T seems slightly more closed but when I was shooting and stick handling I really couldn't tell much apart. I just noticed my shots not rising up like crazy using P90T, which was good.

I can post some side by side pictures later if it helps.

It would be great if you could send some side by side pics!

I called CCM this morning. The rep that I spoke with said that they are not getting rid of the P30. We went over the upcoming release of the Ribcor 4 and the sticks down the line. On the top of the line sticks, they are making it with P30. Somewhere down the line, either on the lower value sticks or intermediates or somewhere that I was not really interested in, the rep said that they will not launch P30s. I think he said it was just P28, P29 and P88 on those sticks that had nothing to do with me (but don't quote me on that, I may have gotten it wrong).

Regardless, on the sticks that I am interested in (the Pro that is usually about $150/$160), and the one underneath that that is usually about $100), we will see P30 on the 75, 85, and 95 flexes. This is great news! (Thank you, CCM!!!)

Thank for calling CCM for us! Did you also ask about the P90TM? Or will that not be on a retail stick at all?

P30 is the retail version. P90T the pro stock. It's a CCM thing - P29 is retail, P90 is a pro stock P92 clone. P88 is retail, P80 is pro stock. Makes no sense to me, but that's how they do it.

Big problem as well with the pro stock P90T - if you search sideline swap for P90T curves, and have a look at the pics, it seems to me a lot of sellers are selling pro stock sticks that have no curve labelled on the stick as "P90T" , I assume because it looks similar to them. There's a wide variety of "P90T" curves for sale there that don't look the same in the pics to me, a lot of them not labelled on the shaft as P90T. Buyer beware.

The most complete CCM chart I've seen is here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1g0UwtZ8BHbBI10cG9z4YMXvS0UmP28u4/view

Notice there is no P90T listed - I'm not sure if CCM actually labels any sticks as P90T, maybe it's just Bauer using that code on pro stock. The P30 is described as "Very close to P88 but different toe (kink and toe)".

Could it perhaps suggest that the P30 is actually pretty different to the Benn then? Just curious, did you read somewhere that P30 = P90T? Definitely a very interesting chart - thanks for that!

On hockeystickman.com the P90TM is described as the Max Height version of the P90T pro-Benn aka P30 curve. Which makes perfect sense.

The P90T Benn is like a P88 in lie and closed nature from the heel to the mid curve. Then it adds an open toe kink, which is where it can somewhat be compared to a P29/P92/P28, which have more toe than the P88 does. If you love stickhandling/backhands and passes with a P88 but wish you had an open toe/pocket to work with for toe drags and shots where you pull the pull towards your body and snap it, the P30/P90T might be for you.

But - if you like the high lie and curved rocker of the P29/P92, it's probably not for you. The real confusion comes in when you add the P90 and P90M to the mix. These are CCM specific pro-stock P92 and P92M max height clones. Real clones, not P29 "almost the same" curves.

Like I said, curve names have really gone to shit. Having different pro stock curve names vs. retail curve names of the same pattern serves what purpose? It just makes everything more confusing.

Burn it all to the ground and start over CCM/Bauer/Warrior/True/etc.

Is there a difference between the Benn P90T and the P30 then? CCM already makes the P30, so if they were so similar it wouldn't make sense to do both right?

I will second the recommendation of the P30. I've been a P28/TC guy for 2 years or so but had a Pro Duncan Keith with a late toe kink that was kinda closed that recently broke that I was heartbroken about (so much so I inquired on a custom order 6 batch from Bauer). I also used to be a P14 guy before that.  P08 is way, way to open if your already challenged with the P28.

While the P30 looks VERY similar to P14 in pictures anyone posts its not the same curve at all. It has slightly longer blade length and is very much so a P88 with a altered lie/rocker with a toe kick. It's GREAT and I'd love if Bauer ever cloned it but for now CCM twigs it is for the near future. Great for shots from anywhere and amazing for passing, hard firm on ice or easey sauce.

2 guys from my team have switched to this pattern since New Years as well and are on the same page.

Not doubting you in any way but is there any reason why it would seem like a P14 in pictures?

Also, does the P30 play similarly to the P28? Literally just looking for a P28 that's slightly more closed. Thanks!

    Howdy,

P30.  Unfortunately only available from CCM, so the stick selection isn't as good something more popular.

P46 would be the best bet from a retail option.

I personally use the Base BC71 Malkin, cant recommend it enough for people wanting a closed toe stick.

These two are often the ones that come up the most but I've seen websites saying equating the P14 to the P30 and others equating the P14 to the P46. What are the differences between the P46 and the P30 and which is more similar to a P28 but only with a more closed toe?

  7. I've been playing with the P28 recently and I love it a lot especially when in tight. Farther out, however, it's harder to be accurate with it (I know it comes from training, but my stick broke anyways). So I was wondering if there was a curve similar to the P28 in length and toe, but is not as open? I quite enjoy the pocket but it's way too open for far shots.

I've used a P14 before but I found it too short and the toe was too square. Currently looking at the P46 but other suggestions are definitely welcome

Brand doesn't really matter here, as long as it serves its purpose.

    Thanks!

  8. I've been using the P28 for ball hockey a while now and my mid range snap shots go very high from no matter how much I curl the stick back down in the follow through. However, I do like the stickhandling and the backhand capabilities. I've previously used the Bauer P14 but I found the blade too short for stickhandling. Currently, I'm looking at either the CCM P46, the CCM P30 or the Warrior W71.

I am a Center/Winger who takes 90% snap shots and 10% slap shots and right now I can only take snaps in close because of the crazy lift that I get from the P28. I'm the shoot first type of player so being able to shoot accurately is a big plus for me (I know that comes through training, but it's hard to change form after so many years + time for a new stick anyways)

Could you guys share your experience of using the P46, P30 and W71 and possibly how it compares with the P28? Doesn't have to be ball hockey but can be ice hockey as well. Other suggestions are welcome too!

    Thanks in advance!
