  1. And why is this specific to the Penguins? I'm at a loss where the idea of resting star players is coming from.
  2. You don't need to rest guys. Malkin and Crosby are very young and have experienced the grind of long playoff runs. Gonch has had plenty of rest this season with injuries. Even if the preceeding weren't true there is no need to rest them.
  3. http://scores.espn.go.com/nhl/boxscore?gameId=300114006 Healthy scratch He's listed as a healthy scratch but he got hurt a couple of games ago. If he isn't healthy they are leaving themselves open to a fine from the league. Yeah, I don't know what's up. It's no secret he's hurt. I just checked and he was listed as lower body from the Calgary game. He's not a scratch or on the game roster tonight....Oh, holy crap! Malkin just scored!!!

  5. It happens. Ottowa gave them a lot of opportunities off the rush last night, you don't get to skate like that against NJ.
  6. It was iffy at best, if there was a penalty it could have been a dive. The Pens got 4 more penalty minutes than the Flyers in the game, so no whining allowed.
  7. You always have to control your stick, there's no qualifier. Odd call as there was a ref it seemed that had the play in front of him, he should have called it to begin with.
  8. Yeah, still no way to tell, lots of guys with groin and shoulder issues who didn't make the playoffs.
  9. Absolutely no way to know if this is the case. Talbot's was an injury from last year, Letang's from getting hit on a play, Gonchar's was an acute wrist thing, etc. None really seem to be overuse or injuries due to lack of recovery. Can't tell how injuries will heal unless you are the doc.
  10. Can you document where Pittsburgh thinks this? I'm just curious how you know what everyone thinks...
  11. Gonchar shouldn't hurt them too much, not the way Goligosky, Letang, and the rest of the D are playing. Their success is due to the 3rd and 4th lines, that won't change with Gonchar out.
