    Hi,

    I noticed on my 7 week old Tacks 9070 skates that the holder is misaligned cause a deflection in the steel. The deflection is around 1.7mm
     

    The shop has assured me this isn’t too unusual and is a straight forward fix, not needing any new holes drilling.

     

    I am due to take them in on Friday for them to do the work, however my relationship with the store isn’t the best but they are unavoidable as they are so large in the UK. 
     

    I assume the fix is to remove rivets and refit the holder?


    I am always paranoid about keeping a good fit on my boot, does anything on the repair affect the heat moulding of my skate? It has been done twice so far to get the spot on fit, so I don’t want anything to change, or have to do the moulding a 3rd time. 

    Assuming that it wouldn’t usually affect the moulding of the boot, is there anything they can mess up that will affect it which I can check?

    Are they being honest about no drilling?

    I had the 1.0 in my Supremes. Currently got 2.0 in my Tacks. 
     

    I vastly prefer the original 1.0. version. I find the much stiffer insole gives me better support (not it’s primary purpose though). I never found it uncomfortable at all. 
     

    I’d buy the 1.0 over the 2.0 personally.

    Thank you for contacting Consumer Services at CCM hockey.

     

    You can swap out the stock insoles with our Orthomove insoles. It is not necessary to heat mold the skates with the Orthomove insoles.

     

    The Orthomove insoles comes with 3 different arch types. Low, Medium and High. You may attach risers underneath the insole for your arch type.

    I had the 7092 girdle and liked it. 
     

    Loved the fit and mobility, however when I started playing more defence I went to pants for more coverage, as you can’t get the girdle to overlap the knee so you have a few more small gaps. 
     

    what I am noticing in pants now though as that they are far more breathable than the tighter, form fitting girdle from before. 
     

    super tacks offers greater adjustability, but the 7092 wrap around that fully opens is very easy to air out for drying.

    This is the scenario I wanted to avoid. I’ve never had to bake my skates to use the speed plates. I’ve always done the speed plates after. 
     

    I mean the instruction with the speedplates is to be stood up with knees bent for the first minute after they go in. This is contradictory to most skate baking which is to not stand on them. 
     

    Anyway, if I want to try different insoles, and it is going to require baking the skates each time I change, I will have baked the skates 3 or 4 times before finding the set up I like. 
     

    In that case, I will make do with the speed plates for now.

    The first gen also was more rigid and harder to take out bc there's less flex. The sp 2.0 is more flexible

    You AREN'T supposed to bake the CCM orthomoves. 

    Certainly taking them out to air is better, I was referring to the difficulty of getting them out. 
     

    Anyway, I was referring to the need to bake the boot with the CCM insole, rather than baking the insole itself.

    Just coming back on this, although I loved the first version, I am noticing that the speed plate fit isn’t quite so good in the tacks than It was in the supremes. 

    In the supremes you couldn’t get them out by hand at all. 
     

    Anyway, I’m curious to now try the CCM insoles, is it critical to bake with them in? I’d like to avoid rebaking to try them, would I get away with just dropping them in?

    I previously had a pair of Bauer Supreme S29 that gave me terrible arch pain, until I fitted speed plates. 

    I fitted these myself and didn’t rebake the boot itself and everything fitted fine. 

    I have now gone into a pair of CCM Tacks 9070 skates to get a better heel fit which is perfect. 

    However I still get the same arch pain as in the Bauer’s. I have noticed though that the 9070 is much stiffer than the S29. 

    With this in mind I’m also looking at the CCM custom support insole.

    Which out of the CCM insole and the Bauer, will have the least affect on the rest of the boot fit? Which is more likely for me to not require re baking the boot?

    You are absolutely an exception to what I have seen. I have repaired far too many tendons on the NXG, MX3 and 1S. Some of it is caused by the player improperly removing their skates but many times its due to impact from sticks, pucks, skates, or other items. I have even seen some player who have very long skating strides wear them out over time just by the force of flexion. 

    How is the flexible tendon guard for durability on the 2S and 2S Pro?

    These are 2 skates I’m currently looking at

    I have these and speedplates. Control less so at the moment. 

    I never realised how much my foot moved prior, or how much my technique relies on that movement. 

    But here’s to improving and getting better again now.

    I’m certainly buying a couple more at payday as we have a road trip coming up. 

    I don’t think I could skate without them now, biggest game changer I’ve experienced. 

    Why do the instructions say not to hang?

    Good morning all. 

    Reading some historical posts has led me to buying a pair of Stable 26 socks to get my ankle locked in my S29 skates properly. 

    I will start with, OMG, I think I finally experienced “heel lock” for the first time ever in skates. Ok. So team training was probably the wrong time to adjust, but my foot felt so planted and solid in the boot it was quite amazing.

    Now, as for the fitting options, after trial and error, I find that I am using 4mm outside and nothing inside on both feet. Does this seem unusual? Should I try 2 and 2 instead? 

    When I tried anything with a 2 on the inside, I could feel the silicone pad pushing into my foot. But I don’t think I actually tried 2+2. So, is 4 + 0 ok?

    Secondly, I’m not the most domesticated person, the instructions say to wash inside the laundry bag (with the silicone pads in), it also says to dry with a dryer and not hung to air dry. Does this mean dry while they are inside the laundry bag?  Are the silicone pads ok in the dryer? I’m unsure of the settings i just stick it on synthetic auto dry and let it do its thing. 😂
