  1. hmm My only other guess is the final pass takes a lot longer.
  2. If the three times a year pond skaters are too lazy to dry off blades after skating, no way they will do that. I was going to say, that would require customers doing something useful to protect their equipment. Honestly no matter what kind of condition the blades are in, I still take it personally when someone hands me a wet pair of skates. Ahmen to that brother. It don't take a whole lot to dry your damn blades as a courtesy to the sharpener. I just feel like throwing the skates back at the customer, but of course that will never happen.
  3. Don't forget the carbon blades covered in rust from a whole summers worth of marinating in a bag. Who knows what else grows on the blade.
  4. haha no takers. Just know that I wouldn't want you in my store. Just as you can choose who you want to give your business to, we can choose who we want to provide our business to.
  5. "Oh, wait a minute. We just sold two pair of hockey skates to customers who have been in the shop getting fitted for about 45 minutes. The wait is now an hour." YEP! Sometimes its not just about standing behind the machine. We got other shit to do as well you know. Especially flexing my muscles while I help a Milf cut her freshly purchased stick. "Not a problem mam, you have a nice day now" (check her ass on the way out) haha
  6. I used to ask them if they thought I would honestly tell the truth if I wasn't. Thanks Chadd I like that one. I think I'll add it to my list of answers.
  7. The other day I had the raunchiest pair of skates I've ever sharpened in my life! It was so bad I had the fan going and I was arching my back away from the skate. Customer was a good guy though, he warned me and all but man I wish he would have went elsewhere. He easily has taken first place in my books with the smelliest skate ever. On top of that, I think I got a sore throat from those skates. Also we've had a couple tournaments and each time there are a handful of parents who ask "Do you do a good job?" To what I reply, "It's my first day." Or "No I do a crappy job." Oddly enough no parent's have ever taken their skates away. Obviously I do the skates proper and all, but I like to think that I just look so sexy passing the skate through the stone and they just like to watch me.
  8. The Cag one will not round off your heel and toe. If you really want to see what 25/45 looks like then you have to place your blade on a flat surface. When its on the flat surface you can "tilt" the blade back and fourth seeing that the mid-front part of your blade has more contact with the surface than the mid-back part of the blade. If you find it very difficult to tell you may have to run it through the cag again.
  9. You bought an easton synergy 300 not a stealth :) I had the opposite happen, I find wood blades get very flimsy after 2-3 games and then there poo. As for marrying Ti-girl, it sounds like the glass slipper story but with a skate. LkptTiger: The worse thing about people asking to change blades etc... is when they see a line of like 8 skates and still have the balls to ask for it right away. It's not like I keep the stuff behind the counter go help yourself!
  10. brady next time dont give such a long leeway time for the guy. Thats no excuse since you made the effort to come in early. Anyways new story: Customer comes into the shop and he's a good guy, easy to talk to, and i've seen him a few times. Brings up his skates and says, "I went to another rink and they just beeped my skates up! take a look!" I look it at it and low and behold it was the worse hack job i've seen in my sharpening career. Blade was grinded down 5 - 8mm lower than the other skate and near the heal a chunk was missing! A CHUNK! So anyways I take my time fixing the blade and it comes out better than expected. I do the other skate and then done and done. Customer comes in looks at the skate and is ecstatic cause now I've eliminated another excuse for him on the ice haha. So we're talking and as a joke I say, "Dont cheat on me again with another sharpener, you see what happens?" Which he replies, "I know im sorry! I didnt even know the guy too! I just needed them sharpened!" Then it was all good laughs he goes out to conquer the beer league world and the day continues. Moral of the story: Dont cheat on your sharpener, and control your urge for one sharpen stands cause you'll never know what your gonna get.
  11. Each pair of gloves in my shop is zip-tied together at the thumbs and hung on hooks. We don't have too many problems with the mitts. Shin guards, on the other hand, are always a bitch. I like the people who try to bolt out of the store without paying for a sharpening. my store is just a pro shop so the second we finish sharpening payment is made. You guys should implement tagging the skates with an alarm or something. Or better yet chase the guys take their skates and bang it on the cement.
  12. Are we supposed to be impressed or intimidated by the cursing? Of course not, why would you feel that way? It's not directed at you or anyone on this board unless the customers use this board. Last week someone did that with a CCM neckguard. Ripped the bag and tried to return it. I took it back and before he left, said, "Ziploc a wonderful invention." And he saw it and laughed. I knew the guy so all was good. Thank god that never happened to me. Most guys usually ask first before busting open product. But hey it's damn annoying when things are open and returned, how are we supposed to sell it?
  13. I swear if they were your friends I would smack them.
  14. More patient now. Don't have big customer issues.
