That's the decision I'll be trying to make by the end of this month. From Blackstone what I would get (X-01, 2 extra spinners, hone, edge checker, oil) would be about $970. From Sparx what I'd get (Sharpener, 2 extra wheels, and eventually edge checker when they release one) will likely be just over $1100. Been trying to weigh pluses and minuses between the two. Originally thought it would be fun and would be a feeling of accomplishment of learning how to use the X-01 and perfecting the skill/craft of sharpening my own skates, but since seeing the Sparx sharpener I'm starting to think the ease of use may be more appealing. I also never considered possible dust etc. the X-01 would create until reading about the Sparx air filter/clean up. Leaning towards the Sparx, but just wish it was a little cheaper than $900. Will definitely be keeping up with this thread to see what experiences others have w/ it over the next month.

So are you saying you don't like the machine and don't think it does a good job of sharpening skates or that the machine is working fine and that this BFD type of sharpening just isn't for you?

Thanks Steve, appreciate the response. Learning about the existence of your guys company/product this last week has definitely left me with some decisions to make. You may have a new customer in the near future. You guys are lucky... Been $10 a sharpening at all the local places here for a couple years

@Russ... Watched your pitch on Facebook for equipment managers. You mentioned there's a Sparx edge checker and I see there are videos on your youtube etc. about how to use it. In the video you mentioned improvements to your edge checker compared to other companies. Just curious what improvements you guys made and where it can be purchased as I haven't found it on your guys website.

ok, cool. Did you have to request it because I don't see it listed for the Replacement Mini Spinners under the accessories tab?

just curious to see if there are going to be any other spinner sizes available because I'd need a 7/16 spinner. I've always found 3/8 too sharp and 1/2 not sharp enough, so a 7/16 option would be essential.
