    I think the Vapor series is the most common NBH boot in roller hockey. That means they convert fairly easily to most frames. They're very comfortable, very stiff and very light, with a good strong outsole that tends to not sag on the outside where the roller frames don't support it much. It helps if they fit your feet, however. My size 10 XVI's were inexpensive and don't have the better liner and tongue, but they are awesome boots, just the same, and make great roller hockey skates.

    These are roller hockey skates. They came like the picture, then I pulled the ice holders to mount A8's. Then a veteran Sprungster skated around in Joe Noris' S50's with A8's and asked for a pair with the blades still on them to finish out his AAA 19U ice championships. When ice is over, maybe the A8's will go on for his roller season. More likely, he'll keep the S50's for ice and go with the 200's for roller. His dad's also on converted A8's.

    Here's what a size 8 Torspo S50/A6 looks like. If you can get near any of these boots to try on, you should do it. If the size 8.5 8K's had ice holders they couldn't have been any more of a conversion. These have A8's with 80mm in back and 76mm in front. I'm going to have to try it to see how they feel. Definitely more pitch.

    Three with A8's. The Torspo's are mine, the 7K's are Jay Spry's and the vintage Bauers are Jeff Prime's. The Torspos and the Bauers are both size 10.

    I think they're 8's. They look older because the heel lock laces up and JoesinBoston's are reg lacing, which looks later.

    I found this pair at HockeyWest on a way closeout table back in a dark corner. They are a little different and I don't know the tiers for the model. A primo ice player in the biz told me the model was a hot item. Anybody know more about them?

    One of my best friends had a pair with five or six red balls lined up in a metal frame. They had to be the first inlines. About 1954!

    So here's my new size 10 Vapor XVI's with the large prototype. This is my favorite conversion yet. We're going to try them on a 9.5 of the same boot to see how it works.

    I just did two hours out of the box on my new Vapor XVI's with the large, A80 Sprung chassis, without a pink spot. Zero break-in time. They're more comfortable than my street shoes. I'll get a picture up tonight if I can. This is the best skate frame I've been on, and I've had the privilege of being on all of the Sprungs first. So this is a good one, for sure. In the next few days I'll have some of the best players in the world on them. Then we'll really know. The boot is so good that I have to wonder what the XXX's and XXXX's are like.

    Here's some Flexlite IXs that I converted to the A80 prototypes. I'm totally crazy about the frame. Not only that it performs so supersickly, but just having an all 80 after so long is a boggle. The boots are OK with the ice holder to support them from the edges, but anything over a 8.5-9 with an inline mount under it turns the sole to flop. Too much soft stuff bending all over the place. I'm moving the frames tomorrow. And I'm going to put pretty wheels on them, too. :) Mounting the boot rearward increases the pitch and gives you more toe to support it. When I remount them I'll try a little more toe. Nice to have the choice.

    Where are you located? long island, new york There are Long Island players on Sprungs, so there's some place to get whatever you use mounted for sure. Check with Iceburg, he'll know.

    There are times that my wife has told me to take them up to my office because she's tired of hearing me cuss for 30 minutes over one miss-threaded screw. The rest of them might take 10 minutes and an hour and five nuts and screws for one stinker. Long live mounting machines. More screws and nuts on the way. ;)

    Is there anybody in Pittsburgh who is good at mounting? LHS's included. How about LA? I'd like to find somebody around here that could take over some of my load.

    There's two important things going on here. First of all, Kovy actually has a chance with Paris Hilton. Come on, I know she's different, but she's probably looking for some new juice. Dating Kovy would assure another year in the world headlines. If I could get her for Sprung, I do it in a snap. Way better than Sid, for sure! :lol: And to less important matters. The M's are a total fluke. They had Black E chassis on them, which are short like the Mission M. Maybe they didn't work for him. I think they were traded for frames in San Diego. The real fluke is that they fit perfectly. I'd already skated for more than an hour in the blue CCMs, and had wet sock blisters on the bottom inside of both ankles forming. I was re-breaking in the CCMs, because the OG Sprungs had been mis-mounted wide on the toe. It had almost ruined the boot, cause they got used all the time anyway. So, I stopped playing and took them off. While sitting down,trying to re-start my heart, I put the M's up against the CCMc. Boink, the same size outside. Perfect size inside. I put them on with no socks on top of the fresh new blisters and played another pickup game. This boot looks and feels like the Graf super lite, or what ever it's called, that's cut the same way. And it has the kind of detail attention that is more typical of custom Grafs. Except for the Totally Mission look. This was the look of the late 90's. I bet this sucker would sell OK right now. Hey Justin, do like Nike. Only work on the fit and performance and re-make some bonus classics with the ongoing perfect fit like you have again with the Boss. Or find a previously lost storeroom filled with dusty boxes of M's. Guys that never talk to me were friends, suddenly. Big open pupils and saying, "Wow, those don't look like they're from 2000. Do you think they'd fit me?" And a lot of "Are those new, do you have more?" from younger players.

    I used them in a pickup game today. VERY NICE. So solid, it's like the chassis is an extension of your leg. I don't think they've ever been baked, so I'll be wearing them for a while. :)

    The like to dislike is running around 10 to 1, and a lot of the dislikes are from the old model. Some dislikes still use them for recreation and coaching, but not games. For refs, there are no negatives. Please, if they're in a store near you, buy them there. I'm spending a lot of my time getting them into the stores, and I am not competing with them. The store may even have some mounted samples. Big stores in NY and NJ are going to be carrying them shortly. Michigan is coming up soon too. And Chicago. I'm mounting a pair of cherry Type M's today for our test samples that Ill have in Detroit. Half of them are ice boots.

    These Flexlite 9s are mine, and the picture doesn't do the frame color-gradation justice. They look airbrushed. The Vintage Tacs belong to an OC bud. I'd never seen any like them before. And the black Bauer setup is mindboggling.

    These are size 8 virgins and will get displayed and tried on a few times and then sold. There is a SoCal rink that's going to do custom packages like these. These size 9.5 6Ks are up cause they look so good with the rest of the RBKs.

    Dejavu! Some more great ice to roller converts. The Grafs are size 7s, which is about as small as I'd recommend for the medium. The Bauers were mounted new with a prototype of the old model more than a year ago. Now they're back at work with the new model. The last shot is what the RBKs looked like after getting ruthlessly Beemered. Shows what a boot can put up with---along with a generous application of epoxy in the though.
