  1. My head hurts, I guess this is what happens when english is not my first language, so I'll give it another shot. What I was trying to say all along is that it's much better to get a one95 on closeout than a one100, since it's the same skate. After that I wanted to say they could have incorporated some new tech in the new one100 and not just the totalone, like the fusion blade for example. At this point someone said the price for a one100 will be around 600$, lower than when the one95 was launched, 650$. Then someone else said the price of the one100 would rise if they had the fusion blades on and gave a reason for that "if they were to add the fusion steel which costs $100". NOW, what I wanted to say was that they could put the fusion steel on because it doesn't cost them that much to produce and the one100 is a dressed up version of the one95, so it shouldn't be that expensive NOW. Think of it this way, when you buy a laptop you can have a preinstalled windows or something else, linux, whatever, or nothing and you would have to buy a windows license, SO in the price of the laptop with preinstalled windows there is an amount payed for the OS, BUT it's much cheaper than if you bought it yourself (the fusion blades are the OS). I really hope you get what I wanted to say because i can't be any clearer than that and if not F**K it, there was a logical point in there somewhere, but let's leave it like that. Cheers

I think that what you're trying to get at is why companies are not offering the newer technologies at significantly lower price-points. They will, but in a couple of years time. Look at the One80 skate for example, it is essentially a down-graded One90 that will be available for almost half the price of One90's.

  2. I had one a couple of days ago where some parents came in with their two kids:

Parents: I'm looking for the smallest helmet that you have.

Me: Well, the best option is to go with the youth Bauer helmets that are over here.

Parents: I heard the CCM TH2 is the smallest.

Me: You mean the CCM HT2?

Parents: Yeah, that is the one.

Me: The CCM HT2 will not be smaller than the Bauer/Itech youth helmets and it would be hard to get a hold of a new one if you're not a member of an NHL team.

Parents: Okay, so you don't have any CCM HT2 helmets? I would like to see if it is smaller.

Me: I guarantee that the youth helmets are the way to go.

After 30 or so minutes of looking at helmets...

Parents: So you don't have the CCM HT2 helmet? I want to know for sure if it is smaller.

Me: Double facepalm, and the cycle repeats itself.

On top of that, the parents had their two kids on leashes and eventually left without a helmet.

  3. I finally got around to trying out the FBV. The Hockey Shop did my skates at 100/50 and I regularly skate on a 1/2 inch hollow. The glide of the FBV is noticeable but not extremely significant IMO. To articulate it more clearly, the glide felt very similar to a regular 5/8 hollow but definitely not as much as a 1" hollow. During my skate, I felt that I had adequate grip on inside edges but not enough for my outside edges. Overall, I just feel more comfortable with my regular hollow and would prefer to stick with it than converting over to FBV.

  4. I was recently at my non-primary LHS with one of my buddies who was getting fitted for skates. During the fitting process, I already knew that my buddy fits in a junior skate. However, the sales guy deliberately said that he won't fit into junior skates and will only fit into senior sizes. It's pretty ridiculous that the sales guy is only concerned with squeezing more money out of a customer instead of ensuring a proper fit.

  5. thank god im the only member here who has to deal with people who buy hockey equipment as if it were groceries. kids are looking through the stick rack;

kid1: i wanna get this Salming stick, it has the same curve as Ovechkin on that ccm 6.0, exept its cheaper.

Me: You guys know that that isnt ovechkins stick right?

kid2: what do you know. dont hate because (looks at my stick) your using nash's stick. (R6)

Me: (pick up six different replacement blades) so, do you think that this S15 blade right and left handed are sakic's, this SWD blade left and right handed are coffey's, and this NBH blade is Naslunds, and he has 4 different blades, in right and left handed?

kid1: yeah, players like to change it up if they're in a slump.

    Shoot Me.

    That's pretty brutal.

  6. Here's one that happened earlier today: "This will be my 2 year old son's second pair of skates. Are the Eason skates good enough? He's destined for the pros." I love how this father has a crystal ball that can predict his son becoming a professional hockey player.

I love those people, my mental response is usually something along the lines of; "most people never make it past amateur porn, congratulations."

A mental statement like that unfortunately never crossed my mind until you mentioned it. :P

  7. The X:50 will be a strong price point north of the border. That is part of the potential for whom Bauer is marketing that skate for.

Good point! I suppose the XXV is about $400 and XXXX is $800 up there, or some big gap like that?

XXXX is 649.99. The XXV is in that $350-$400 area.

    he means in Canada

    I know, XXXX's aren't $800 in Canada.
