  1. Seems like you should have some ground to stand on. I'd go back to the shop and talk to whoever is there. If they don't fix it, I'd escalate it to the manager/owner and go from there.
  2. Weird. Did they happen to review the order with you on the screen of the 3d Scanner?
  3. Sounds a little fishy about the advanced facing. It's on option in their catalog and in the scanner that you can do 1/4 or 1/2 forward or 1/4 inward. Was this a pro custom order, or a 3d scan total custom? Are you getting lacebite or discomfort from the depth/volume? Have you talked to the LHS/CCM about it?
  4. I just ordered some Sunday from North Georgia Hockey in Atlanta/Alpharetta. I was pretty impressed with the guys at the shop. Hopefully in 3-4 weeks I can post some actual feedback on how they turned out, but until then I'll just have to say the entire fitting process is pretty impressive. Here is a catalog of all the options (Compliments of Nicholas G). The only option I think I had that wasn't listed in there was the lacelock.
  5. I ended up ordering some Custom AS1s this weekend. Did the CCM scan and Bauer volumental scan at North Georgia Hockey in Alpharetta/Atlanta. I'm about 3.5 hours away in Huntsville, AL but they're the closest place that does custom skates and I was passing through Atlanta anyway. Geoff and Alex are solid guys and I'd definitely recommend stopping by the shop if you're in the area. Hopefully I'm not putting the cart before the horse on this, but I've struggled to get good fitting skates. I have an E width forefoot and a regular/narrow heel with high arches and a really high ankle depth. Nexus has been the closest to a good fit, but it's still too loose in the and just not a great fit all around. The new tacks line was a pretty good fit, but not enough volume and the toecap was a little narrow (my whole foot/toes are shaped like a V), Jetspeeds in a EE width were the same deal, but failed the pencil test even more. Supremes just feel terrible, especially in the toe cap. Custom skates ended up being being AS1 10D +1/2 facing (though even with that it's still barely enough volume), Donut ankle pad Forefoot comfort pad Oversized toe cap +3mm Enhanced comfort pad 7mm Tritech Pro Ribbed HPE White Clarino Grey liner Orthomove Insoles +2mm runners They said typical turn time is 4-6 weeks, but lately they've been closer to 3. Can't wait! Ordered my
  6. Not currently. They're in storage, but I can probably get some next time I run by there. They're a size 12 or 13 though (this was when they did actual shoe sizes).
  7. I have a pair of the old 3 fingered Wicked Lite gloves from back in the day and a pair or two of the old VSi skates, but no Wicket Lite skates.
  8. Any more thoughts on the shins after wearing them a bit? I have 2 sets of RBK/JOFA shins that I love but they're just freaking huge and I've loved the rest of the stx stuff I've had and was thinking about pulling the trigger on the RX3 shins.
  9. I've heard about guys saying the AS1 customs have a very contoured outsole, closely fitting their arch instead of being flat like a retail model. Any idea if the 70k would be similar or if the 2 piece construction would limit that? In the past, skates that didn't have enough volume and we lacking arch support (took me awhile to figure this out) gave me terrible arch pain. Insoles with high arch support and loosely lacing over the arch helped, but we're kind of annoying to have to do.
  10. I might have missed it somewhere, but are the total customs made in Canada? I'm in Nexus n9000s now as they're the only skate I've found that had enough volume, but the rest of the fit isn't great. My left foot is wider than the right and had to stretch that boot but it's still not great. I've got high arches and really wide toes (they're also cartoon like, biggest toe is the longest, and they get shorter from there). On boots or shoes, there's always a spot where my big toe pushes out on the inside edge of the toe of the shoe and stretches it out and I've got wicked calluses on that part of my toe. I really don't want to drop over a grand for a pair of skates, but it seems like that might be a good route to go. Then I also have to figure out which line to go with. Trying some on, the 70Ks felt the best, but I way failed the volume test. The AS1's did ok, came closer to passing volume but wasn't quite as comfortable overall. I was told my the closest 3D scanner shop (still 4 hours away) that the XS holders aren't available until this summer. Anyone else hearing the same thing? I'm debating whether I want to go ahead and do this, or if I should wait till this summer. I'm assuming that's when the FT2 and "90k" (or whatever it'll be called ) will be launched? In the for what it's worth category, I'm also a big dude, 6'2" 260lbs, low level d2, high d3 skater, usually skate 3 times a week. Any thoughts?
  11. Where did you get scanned? Here in Alabama?
  12. What kind of volume do you need? I needed up in a Nexus 9000 due to the volume/high arch. The heel is tight enough that it doesn't cause blisters, but it's definitely not quite as comfortably snug as a Jetspeed in EE felt (but failed the pencil test miserably).
  13. I ordered some custom Alphas at the end of November, 6 weeks later theses guys showed up. The mesh on the figures and cuff roll almost looks dark grey (which I actually would have preferred) in certain lights, which I think looks pretty slick. The emblem is my initials and number (80 or 8). I do like the cuff on these a lot better than the retail gloves, but I liked the stretch gussets better on the retails. They feel a bit tighter and smaller, I'm hoping breaking them in will loosen them up a little.
  14. Sorry, but the 1x shaft, both 1x blades, and the apx2 shaft all sold on Sideline Swap. I still have the p88 blade and a couple mission v-hex tapered blades in a PM9 pattern if you're interested.
  15. I did the same thing. I think I paid like 35 or 40 bucks for it. Killer bag for that price. I love being able to walk through doors easily with it. I get ribbed a little for it being a "backpack" bag, but then half the geezers on my team have wheelie bags so... I'm a big dude too (6'2" 260), but even with virtually all XL sized gear, I can make it fit. Now, I do stuff my elbows into my shins, into my pants, but it works out fine and make sure I don't forget anything. I always take my gear out to dry it after every use anyway. I put my skates in the main compartment and use the end compartment for towels, tool kit, etc. Even the large (though it's still only a 32") fits into the trunk in my BRZ (which was the real reason for getting a new bag in the first place). It's a small trunk, but the kicker is how low and small the opening is. I'm thinking about picking up another one of the easton bags while they're on sale for my roller gear, but I'm afraid I'll bring the wrong back to the wrong rink. The one thing I have had happen is a lot of the zipper pulls (the string part) come off. I just made some paracord zipper pulls that are a little bigger and easier to pull anyway.

  17. You just got an alkali pants customer, probably for a long time. Most xl pants are a 45" which is understandable, but also a bit long for me. Thanks Justin!
  18. Anyone have any of the pants in XL? I need to find out what the overall length is on them.
  19. Definitely check out the sprung thread. Its a long read, but the info you gain from it is insanely helpful. To sum it up, with the sprung chassis, you get the benefit of 4 80mm wheels with regards to speed but you have unmatched maneuverability which is supposed to be the most ice like feel of any inline skate (i'm only an inline guy). I instantly adjusted to the changed and haven't even contemplated ever going back. Now instead of looking at the latest inline skates I'm looking at Ice skates because I KNOW I'm instantly ditching the stock chassis and putting on some sprungs. Another added benefit is the durability and replaceability (don't think thats an actual word, but...). At 6'2" 250lbs, and a wild skater, I've destroyed many an inline chassis. With traditional inline chassis, as soon as you go too fast into a board or whatever else, you're out at least one chassis, maybe two. With sprung, on the odd chance you actually break one, they're much more replaceable, and MUCH MUCH more economical (as well as easily) to fix. And while at some point it does get slightly annoying to explain what exactly is attached to the bottom of your skates, its easily balanced out by the performance as well as joy of spreading the mojo of the sprungs. Speed, maneuverability, and overall GREAT feel of the sprungs is second to none. They're awesome :)
  20. I can say there is a definite difference holding an aluminum chassis in one hand and a mag in the other. I can't tell you how that calculates on the rink. I went from an aluminum chassis to sprungs, and then skated on a set of mags for a pick up game and then converted back to the sprungs. I was much more focused on my actual skating rather than how much my skates weighed. But I can say that they are crazy light.
