Bauer 8090 skates question...

Recommended Posts

From what I read in the reviews, they seem to fit pretty big. I was just wondering if I am a size 6.5 D in the Vapor XX's and XXX's would I be a size 6.5 D ? The reason I am asking is because I found a good deal on them and they only have a size 6 D and 6.5 D. Any help is appreciated.

As far as I understand, the 8090 is the worst skate to buy online. They fit differently than all other skates. Avoid doing it, if you can try them on go do it because if you get them and they don't fit, then that's definetely no good.

I made the mistake of buying them online ordering the same size as I had with my Vapor XV. I've found that my 8090's are about a half size too long so with a cautious recomendation I'd say the size 6 is your best bet.

So you've gone through G5s, S500s, Synergys, V12s, Vapor XXs and now you're looking for 8090s? 8090s fit nothing like any of the other skates but go ahead and get them. I'm sure you'll just move on to something else in another month.

Yeah I know I've gone through a lot of skates, and I am getting sick of it my self, I just can't find anything that fits properly. My right foot seems to be 0.25 - 0.5 sizes bigger then my left, and I like a snug fit, but if my left fits nice and snug my right is hurting and if the right is comfy the left is too lose. My skate problems only started about a year ago after I came back from my second ACL surgery, I had the VAPOR XX's prior to that and I liked them a lot , but like I said after coming back from my second ACL surgery I started having problems. If I could find a size 6.5 L and 6 3/4 R in the Vapor XX's I would be in heaven, but I don't play pro lol and I don't have 600.oo USD for custom skates and even if I did I think you can only order custom widths. And I've read on here that the 8090's fit like no other skate, and who knows they might be it. I will go to my LHS and see if they have em and try them out.

Right now I am using my buddies beat 705 Grafs, I don't have any skates, what I had and didn't fit I sold right away ( I didn't loose money so there are no regrets), trust me if I find a skate that fits well I am going to be the happiest person on the planet.

If Vapors fit your foot, 8090s will be way too wide. I would just get the closest size, in whatever skate, and stretch the boot that needs to be bigger.

I have a similar problem, 6.5 left, 7 right ridiculously narrow heels. My bauer rep measured every part of my foot, having bauer build the boot around those measurements. Perfect fitting Vapor XXX's+8090 tongues+solid steel+pro stiffness= a little slice of heaven. The satisfaction of having a skate that fits pretty much cancels out any of the extra cost.

Yeah but there isn't much you can do as far as stretching the skate lenght wise, especially the Vapor XX that has very little padding in the back. I might be wrong. And the XX's did fit well, but they started to hurt like hell afterwards. The left foot in was a perfect fit and the right was just too small, I had a size 6.5 D, I even tried out my friends Supreme 8000 just to see the fit and its the same deal.

How much did it cost you ? And do you know if they can do 1/4 sizes ? Did you just call up Bauer/Nike or did you do it through your LHS. And yeah having skates that fit is a great, because if skates don't fit its always on your mind and then it messes with your game.

If you still had them you could have tried getting them stretched.

I've used my XX's for about 6 months (played about 3-4 times a week), I am pretty sure by then the skate is "broken down" and stretched.

Broken down probably. stretched, probably not. That's also the best time to experiment. If they die, it's no big loss.

Haha Cavs you better be one hell of a dangler with those skates . If there was some duster on my team with those, he would get chirped out of his mind :P

I made the mistake of buying them online ordering the same size as I had with my Vapor XV. I've found that my 8090's are about a half size too long so with a cautious recomendation I'd say the size 6 is your best bet.

10.5EE are fitting me in the XV

10.5D are fitting me in the 80-90's

10EE in vapors fits but is painfully tight on me.

10D in 8090 gives me a bit of room in the toe.

Chad so do you think if the 6.5 D in Vapor XX's is a bit tight, the 6.5 D in the 8090's would be an alrite fit ? And are you pleased with the skates, cuz everyone in the review section seems to be very pleased with them.

Holy cow, there is no way I can afford to pay 400+ for a top of the line Bauer skate and anoter 200.00 USD on top of it.

I work in a shop....Dealer cost on a vapor XXX plus $100 custom charge. The custom charge depends on how much your shop wants to gauge you. The way it worked was the rep came in with some forms and a measuring tape, measured almost every part of my foot (arch height, ankle depth, heel width, etc, etc.) to the 16th of an inch, and asked me what options I wanted.

I don't get it, you are obviously already willing to pay that kind of money for the retail skate, and you're willing to go through the hassle of buying a whole bunch of other types of skates, wouldn't it be worth the extra money just to solve the problem once and for all ?

Look on the bright side...it's cheaper then getting your feet surgically altered.
