Skate Fit

Recommended Posts

does anyone know if the fit of the nike skates are exactly the same as the bauer skates? Is the fit for Nike's Roller and Ice different or are they exactly alike? I can fit into a Nike Quest 1 roller hockey skates in 8d pretty well and just wanted to know if the fit would be different for Bauer 8D Ice hockey skates. Thanks

Nike's skates has one of the widest fit in the market... Bauer's skates fit the traditional narrow and long feet (Most of them, apart from the 8090...)

I just switched from Vapor XX to Nike V-12, and the nike's are a lot easier on the outside of the forefoot. But the sizes aren't the same either. Although the old Quest 1 skates may fit the same as bauer ones as far as sizing goes, but the newer quests and flexlites don't match up.

so then would anyone know how the Quest 1 Blades in 8D would compare to the Vapor XXX? Quest 1's are a pretty much perfect fit for my foot so would that mean the Vapor XXX being narrower hurt my foot on the sides?

It depends on how the skate bakes if you decide to do so, and exactly how narrow your foot is. If your foot is the same shape as mine, and the XXX is identical to the XX in fit, then the forefoot will have some pain everytime you skate. Keep in mind though, that I never baked my XX, which probally would have fixed the problem.

What do you mean by the blades? Like the TUUK? I have no idea how to compare roller holders to ice ones...

not the actual TuUK thing, but the roller boot. Also I can fit into 8D CCM Tacks and 8.5D CCM tacks pretty well. Does this mean I would have to get it in a wider size and not in D? Cause I've heard from a few people that fit into CCM Tacks nicely couldn't fit into a Bauer 8-8.5D

he has an old quest one, this boot was actually narrower then the v-12s. so the sizing would be roughly very similar if he was to go in a vapor XXX or XX, the only thing is that the quest series of skates that lemieux wore were a higher cut narrower fitting boot so the vapor XXX may not be narrow enough for him.

The old Quest series skates were narrower and were also shorter than the newer models - they were about a full size smaller than CCM, so I'm surprised that you find an old Nike 8d and a CCM 8.5D both good fits - I would have expected the CCM's to be far too big.

The Quest ice and inline boots both sized the same I believe, and were a half size smaller than Bauer, so I'd try a Bauer 7.5D. The fit is different though, as well as the sizing, so you'd definitly be best going into a shop and trying them on.

didn't wanna start a new topic so I'm bringing this one back up..

It's basically the same question but does anyone know if the Quest 1 fit is the same as V-9,10 or 12 fit? cause the V series are also called Quest and I heard something about nike changing their sizing for skates over the past few years. Thanks

V series is a wider and "smaller fitting" boot. You'll drop a few size or two from the Quest 1 to the V series (assuming you can handle the width)

like i mentioned in my posts earlier

I wear a shoe size 9.5 and CCM 8D, I fit into Nike Quest 1 8D really well, it's a perfect fit,

when you said wider and smaller fitting boot, does that mean I would have to drop to something lower than 8D like a 7.5D?

I'm pretty surprised that you fit a Nike Quest 1 in a 8D and a CMC in a 8D - when I tried the Quest skates I needed a full size bigger than my CCM's. But as to your question, if you fit a 8D in a Quest 1 then you'll need a 7 or 7.5D in a newer Nike.

too late... i ordered 8.5D

i went in and tried, 7.5 D was way too tight, 8 was something i didn't get to try on but i assumed that thats what i was supposed to wear, then i tried 8.5 and when laced up the skate fits perfectly..

thanks for all your help
