Skating treadmill

Recommended Posts

I've had the chance to do this, but I did it in Indianapolis so it's not Frappier Acceleration. The cost of my session included 45 minutes on the treadmill and 45 mins of plyometrics. After I was done it was a real workout. The treadmill is fun, to me it was a whole different perspective on office training. In my personal opinion, I say give it a go.

ktang how much do they charge to use that? Always wanted to try it...

You're in Vancouver too, right? Their number is (604) 291-9941. The first evaluation session is free. Probably because a lot of people spend most of the session suspended by the harness.

If you buy a package of 12 or more it is Cdn$28 per session. If you get fewer, it is Cdn$34 per session.

Thanks I think I'm going to try it in the summer in between camps.

Again, thanks for all the input, both con and pro (I was looking for more "con", actually).

Theoretically, if I understand correctly, all the muscles have to fire more quickly because you are skating up an incline. They can also anchor bungee cords from your knees to a bar behind the treadmill so that you can work on your leg recovery. And, you can do overspeed training with the treadmill if you hang onto the "training wheel" bar in front.

As hockeychamp14 says, the best workout would probably be overspeed training with surgical tubing etc. on the ice, but that requires a trainer that knows how to do the overspeed training properly.

I have seen other workouts with rollerblades on treadmills, but I can't see the benefit of these.

So, we'll see how the evaluation session goes.

I think that Minnesota Wild put some (most?) of their players through a Frappier Acceleration program (using the Frappier skating treadmill).

I skate on one once a week currently at blue streak and it's a great workout and lots of fun. Your best of skating on it with kind of dull edges but afterwards you will need your skates sharpened because it will completely take away the edge
