hockey glove color

Recommended Posts

i'm not sure.. but i was wondering.. is there a way to dye a pair of hockey gloves? i've been looking for a pair in red/white.. and i haven't been able to find them.. so i was thinking i would buy the pair in blue and white, and then try to find some kind of leather dye or if it comes down to it.. carefully cover and then spray paint the parts i want red. anyone have any ideas??

well actually.. the thing is, the glove i want is an older model.. probably sometime around 2000-2002. they are the nike bolero.. like the one's fedorov used to wear...

You'll have a heckof time getting a lighter color to show over the dark. I doubt the dyeing will work.

I've never really dyed any material though...maybe a really, really dark red would work.

Tape, or some other kind of applied material is your best bet I think!

what if i bleach out the blue first?? maybe?

Bleach will degrade synthetic leather and nylon. I wouldn't recommend it unless you've done it before.

Why not try vinyl paint? You can get it from some figure skating supply stores (I found black anyways) and it should cover the blue as long as you clean and prime before painting.

this sounds really stupid but i thought the leather would be sealed with some sort of lamination or stuff to stop it loosing colour or being dyed i doubt it but is it?

i just went to an old show repair guy, and he told me acrylic leather paint would work.. so i'm going to try that. i even took the gloves in to show him and he said it would work. so, he's going to get some red for me, and i'm going to give it a shot. i asked if the red would cover the blue, or if it would turn purple.. he said the red would fully cover it. he also said it would be permanent. so far it seems this may work, let's hope so.

when i asked the shoe guy where i could get the acrylic leather paint, he said i couldn't. it's some special stuff in a bottle.. and he has to special order it i guess.. it was a strange brand i'd never seen. so.. i'm hoping it's some heavy duty, proffesional stuff. i'm hoping to have it done by at least the end of next week.. depending on when i get the red paint. as soon as i get it done.. i'll take some pics and show you guys. hopefully it comes out sweet..

thanks for all the input!
