This has been comfirmed by TSN and Sportsnet. Osgood isn't great but there is a total lack of quality goaltenders. Theabuit is worth taking a chance on if you don't want Joseph.

Any word on if Thornton has resigned with the Bruins? I heard him and Samsonov were signed but i never heard of an actual deal done.

They were given qualifying offers, but they haven't signed the offers. Today's paper said the offers expire Monday, but I'm not sure what that means. My guess is it means the Bruins would still retain their rights, but they couldn't play until they sign a new contract, or, to put it into terms that Bruins fans can understand -- a holdout!

To call it a holdout when a player doesn't have a contract is incorrect. The media does it quite frequently but it's more out of laziness than intentionally trying to mislead people. The player and team just haven't been able to come to terms on a contract.

Today's Herald:

B's up the offer to Thornton to 5 years at $32.5M.

Samsonov probably will sign qualifying offer at $2.774M. Apparently, the new CBA prevents negotiations until January, 2006, if Samsonov goes that route.

Latest rumour has Stumpy Thomas back to Toronto for the league minimum and another Toronto based "insider" on the Fan is reporting a trade to be completed tonight.

Stumpy I can see happening. This "insider" is one of the least respected people in the Toronto media, and our media isn't very well respected. I wouldn't put much stock into the trade. He didn't mention any names.

I have a question. On another board I said the leafs have to be careful with injuries and described Allison's concussions. Well, needless to say I got ripped to shreads. They presumed to tell me I was an idiot and he only had whiplash and something else.

What is the real story?

I think it was initially a neck/whiplash injury, but the post injury was very similar to Post Concussion.

Both Lindros and Allison were out last year, but neither was because of a concussion. I believe, of the time Lindros was hurt, 10 days was chalked upto a concussion. He came back, and someone re-injured his shoulder in practice before he could play. Allison was put out by a concussion, but suffered Whiplash which was his major problem. I think, and am not too sure, that it was something in his neck that was damaged and causing pain.

Whiplash and nerve damage if I remember correctly.
