Has anyone played with this? Draft Lottery

Everytime you refresh, it generates draft lottery results. It uses the formula the real lottery will use. Kind of interesting to see what could happen. It really shows how having 3 lotto balls vs. only having 1 lotto ball is not that big of a deal.

I've been playing with it a bit and check out my last results, how unfair would this be? Detroit, Colorado, and Tampa Bay on top and NYR, Pittsburg, and Nashville on bottom.

1 Detroit Red Wings

2 Colorado Avalanche

3 Tampa Bay Lightning

4 St. Louis Blues

5 New York Islanders

6 Toronto Maple Leafs

7 Washington Capitals

8 New Jersey Devils

9 Vancouver Canucks

10 Boston Bruins

11 Edmonton Oilers

12 Ottawa Senators

13 Buffalo Sabres

14 Carolina Hurricanes

15 Chicago Blackhawks

16 Montreal Canadiens

17 Atlanta Thrashers

18 Dallas Stars

19 Columbus Blue Jackets

20 Philadelphia Flyers

21 Minnesota Wild

22 Florida Panthers

23 Los Angeles Kings

24 Calgary Flames

25 Anaheim Mighty Ducks

26 Phoenix Coyotes

27 San Jose Sharks

28 New York Rangers

29 Pittsburgh Penguins

30 Nashville Predators

the few times I clicked I got Detroit at the top a majority of the time followed by washington. The closest pittsburgh ever got was 7 when I did it and the furthest down detroit was 15 so somethings a little fishy with the math here.

Nothing is fishy with the math. Lets be honest, there is not that much difference between having 3 balls and 1 ball. It is all just luck of the draw. This is NOT like the NBA lottery where it is weighted heavily. Today's will be interesting, and unlike any other Lottery before, every position is available to any team.

Yea, nothing fishy. McCabe got the point I was trying to make. There's not a big difference between 1 ball out of 70 and 3 balls out of 70. (not sure exactly how many balls will be in play.)

The weighting of this lottery is very light to say the least.

There's actually more than a 50 percent chance that a team with 1 ball will get it.

33% - 1 ball

42% - 2 ball

25%- 3 ball

Individual odds are, of course, higher for the 3 ball teams though. I believe 6% to 2%

I preferred watching Sossy pick the Crosby winners on Rogers Sportsnet (with Jim Lang) in their mock lottery.

After every pick, they would show Crosby saying, "I'm just glad that... "
