frozen four

in 2010 ford feild (home of the dertroit lions and superbowl XL) will host the frozen four. drawing on the experience of the cold war (mich v mich state) and the heritige classic in edm. i like the idea. i would love to see a regular season nhl game played outdoors. it would draw alot of attention to the nhl. i would also bring the game back to its roots (outdoor hockey).

what do you guys think about this?

how many of you played outdoor games in the regular season?

i played two years in MN in the late 70's and we played half our games outdoor.

I've read the owners of the Red Sox have floated the idea for an outdoor rink at Fenway. There are some who don't think it's viable because of the permits and the grass itself, but I love the idea. They said they were considering making it open to public, so it would be akin to Rockerfeller Center in NY.

I think it would be cool to hold the Beanpot there one year: annual tournament between BC, BU, Northeastern and Harvard.

I don't think they should host the Beanpot there-no reason to mess with tradition (though the 'new garden' sucks). I've heard a possibility of BC-BU followed by Michigan-Michigan State.

that would be a great tourny. i have enjoyed watching hockey east teams play in the GLI the last few years.

I would have said that it was a terrible idea; however, the ford field does have a roof, so it would be pretty cool. The only problem is that there would be a whole lot of empty seats because i dont think that many people would actually show up, they would be better off holding it at the Joe.

It's already been established that U of Wisconsin will play Ohio State in the Frozen Tundra game at an out door rink at Lambeau field. It's in this issue of USA hockey actually. That would be amazing to see. Although now that I'm a student at MSU I'd love to see a Cold War 2.

All of my practices are outside and like once a year we have a game outside. I love playing outside especially when we play against people that have never played outside and theyre all freakin out cuz their ears are cold. I think the Wild host a pond hockey tournament every year, sorta a 3 on 3 thing.

I cant stand playing outside.For one I hate playing on rock hard ice,and another last year we played in a foot of snow.My feet were frozen and you couldnt see anywhere and they didnt even call the game untill 20 minutes later.
