If you want just photoshop, go with CS (also known as 8.0)

i take graphic design as a class....took me along time to get good at it, by urself would be very hard

i've used photoshop since around photoshop 5, since then I've never taken a class, just played around and self taught. I use Photoshop CS2 now which is awesome. I've bought 1 book for Photoshop 7 which helped me out a LOT. If you really enjoy playing around with things such as this then it shouldn't be too hard to learn but if you really want then I guess you could take a class.

I am self tought with all my software from Flash, Dreamweaver to Photoshop. I tought myself HTML, PHP, and CSS. Because of student discounts I was able to get Studio MX 2004 for like $199 and Creative Suite for something like $299. I easily get my money back because I work as a part time graphic designer.

I use CS2. I used to have 7.0 and 6.0. There's not really that much of a difference in CS2. Only ones that affect me are some of the shortcut key combinations and the vector shapes.

Which one did you download? If you just got GIMP it will take some getting used to if you are not familar with several windows being open (linux style)

GIMP IS FUN! Way back when I use to use gimp for photo editing. FUN program, it sucks, but it sure is fun... A lot of people dont realize that photoshop is NOT for crating vector images such as graphics and logos, that job is reserver for illustrator. Photoshop is for PHOTO EDITING, make sure you are using the correct program. Too many people download photoshop and make crappy graphics and it has to stop.
