What bug got up your ass tonight? I made a friggin joke, as all of us do every day. If I happened to pick a friend of yours or even an acquaintance I'm sorry. Hey, I loved watching Bob Probert play and in his prime he had good wheels, but it wasn't because of his skating that I enjoyed watching him

As for the comment itself, I watched him play in Hershey and his skating was below that of many of the other players at that time. He seemed like a good guy and  hard worker, I'm sure it has improved in the last couple years.

The bug up my ass tonight is you Chadd. You are way out of your league on your comment and you keep going with it.

Does that mean if Sean Avery wears the skate it doesn't matter? Sure it matters. He is one more NHL guy that uses it than before. Where do you think a company like Mission started? And now Chadd, how many NHLers use Mission? Justin, care to chime in here? Chadd, I'm sure your Mission rep used it on you..."XXX number of players use our skates." Knowing you, you're there trying to figure out who. And no offense to Mission here, they make a great product. I'm simply using their brand as an example.

You know Chadd, small companies have to start somewhere. Usually, that somewhere is 3rd and 4th line guys who get little to no attention from a pro rep. Yes, it's true folks, these guys don't get so well taken care of. I learned easy with this. I saw it when Synergy's were flying about in the room to everyone on the top two lines. Suddenly, TPS starts taking the bottom line guys and allowing them custom patterns. All of a sudden, we had 100+ guys in the NHL with the original Response OPS, breakage and all, and then guys like you Chadd (I know you didn't have a store at the time) started bringing in Response OPS to their stores.

Why was this? Simple. We had 6 top notch contract guys, 1st or 2nd liners, using the stick, along with 100 3rd and 4th liners who loved getting taken care of. How do you think Bauer, CCM and Mission came into the one piece stick business? They took their contract players and went after 3rd and 4th line guys as well. Suddenly, guys who were "Easton" guys started seeing this and they're in a slump and say "maybe I should try it." And that is how the cycle works.

Try our profession Chadd. You will quickly change your opinion.

Doesn't matter to me. I sell products based on if they fit my customer and if it's a good product. I'm not one of the lazy guys that spouts all of the pros in a particular brand of gear and hopes that makes the sale for me. I'm a gear junkie and make a living off of trying to find the right product for each customer instead of trying to put each customer into a specific product. I'm sure I would make more money if I carried every big brand and gave the typical "lighter is better" or "but this has three X's" stuff you get from a lot of shops. I would much rather have a kid try on a bunch of different brands and find exactly what fits him or her the best. I don't mind working for my money.

Chadd, I'm sure your Mission rep used it on you..."XXX number of players use our skates."

If he did, I wasn't paying attention to him. When I talk to my reps, I want to hear numbers($$). I look at gear and decide for myself if it's better than what another vendor has at a similar price point. If there is a good story that goes along with the product and makes it easier to sell, even better.

I gotta say, I'm so shocked reading your comments that I'm laughing.

I gotta go to bed. ROFLMAO!

As a matter of fact, don't edit any posts so that I can re-read them when I wake up. I might need a laugh. And if you do edit, make sure the post notes it.

I dont find anything chadd said to be funny, I wish I had a person like him working at my lhs, and not the "these are sweet skates" type whos trying to get you to buy the highest priced pair.

I think you're both right, but I think you're looking through the same prism from different sides.

You are correct, Chadd, that who uses the equipment has no bearing on its quality. Yet, even if you attempt to convey that to your customers, some of them are too set in their preconceptions because they've fallen for what my Logic class called Fallacy of Authority. (Heck, manipulating that emotion is the reason why Madison Avenue gets paid so darn well.)

Conversely, Marcelo is correct, because every NHL player (or even college or junior) is somebody's hero. And that somebody will want to emulate his hero. No matter how hard you try, for some customers, you'll never be able to convince them to try something different, because it would almost be like shattering a myth.

Marcelo is also correct that smaller companies don't care who wants to use their product. One of my reps and I have had conversations with a guy who racks up PIM's and who really likes our sticks and gloves. (Where I'm going to come up with $50K to pay the NHL, well , that's another story.... ) But the thing is, he'd be an NHL player. And the sad truth is, in some people's eyes, all of the sudden that makes my equipment better.

No doubt about it, I get the "who's using it?" comment every time I bring in new gear. Would my job be easier if Salming for example, paid half the Flyers to use their gear? Absolutely it would be easier. However, I would prefer they build a following and build their business so they don't crash and burn, making me look like an idiot for picking a "nobody" manufacturer that died to put in my shop.

oops, sorry i mentioned Rocky. I was actually hoping that someone would add," in addition to Rocky we have ---- and---- wearing Kors too."

besides Rocky, is there someone in Kor skates that is known for the gifted skating maneuvarability. That's the final say in this for me, as a potential customer.

Is there is a pure elite skater out there in Kors? I'm just wondering that if I play beer league hockey and skate twice a week, will I be able to effectivley break the Kors in to a place where they feel as versatile(yet not flimsy) as my other skates?

I thought Iggy wore them for a little while?

Iggy, Primeau and others demo'd them at various times in the development process. Kor used that feedback to further refine the designs.

I know there was one guy in Norfolk wearing them last year and Vince told me he expects them to have a number of guys wearing them this year in the NHL. He mentioned a couple of potential names but I spaced them.

Chadd what is the fit like? How does it compare to Nikes. I have a narrow heal and wide forefoot. Are they low cut or traditional

As long as your forefoot isn't too wide(tight in Nike EE), you should be fine. They aren't a terribly high cut boot but I still end up leaving the top eyelet loose because of the overall stiffness of the boot.

I am comfortable in a D Nike. I wear a 13 or 14 in a sneaker and size 10 in the Nikes. What size Kor do you think will fit.

I haven't worn a Nike in a while but four sizes seems to be a huge difference. I can wear a 10 Bauer, 10.5 Mission and I wear a 10.5 in the Kor.

I wore a 10 in a Bauer XXX and most other skates. So I will try to find a store close. Where are you?

My shop is in Lancaster PA and I live in Harrisburg.

I am a EEE width, B heel and I have no problems fitting in these skates, before they were heated. Vince asked me to heat the skate to get the best fit and I really didn't want to; I liked the fit as they were out of the box.

By the way, and Vince will confirm this with the dealers, one of my requisites in taking the rep job with Kor was that the skate had to work for me and fit properly. I was very skeptical at the outset, much like many of you are, but, tried it on and I was like :o.

All I can say is that it sure saves me a ton of $$ not having to order custom CCM's every year, and I enjoy seeing the look on peoples faces when they try the skate on for the first time.

Chadd, you'd be surprised at how good the fighters are at playing hockey. I remember back to when Paul Kariya was at his first Ducks Training Camp and Stu Grimson was the fastest skater of the bunch. Stu f**king Grimson, Chadd! Can you imagine?

I remember watching that guy practice, for almost 7 seasons here in Southern California with the Ducks and then the Kings. The guy was one of the, if not the hardest working guy on the team, both on and off the ice.

Did stu just lack talent/vison/hockey sense if he was so fast? Being faster than karia says something, either about his speed, or how lacking his other abilities might be. If he was so fast, what made him a tough guy and kept him from scoring goals?

I remember back was he was around when the whalers were in town, but can't say I remember him being all that skilled. ;)

Who's Vince? I had thought he was the rep in Chadd's area, but when you've mentioned him, Marcelo, it appears he's higher up.

Mark (from Funk Free) and I met those guys at the bar after the Show, and I remember meeting Chris (CEO) and Lawrence (President), and a couple of other guys, but I'm not sure I met Vince.

Vince is the General Manager, Sales or at least that's what his business card says. He's been very good to us every step of the way. I've never actually met our rep, I understand he's an Eagle rep, but not our Eagle rep.
