Vinnie says goodbye

Recommended Posts

He deserved a better farewell. One of the classiest guys I ever met and I was fortunate enough to be on the ice with him during his prime. :)

Just little old me. Calm down. During the first NHL lockout he was playing for my hometown team and during that time I was playing juniors for the same team. (european clubs traditionally have their own pee-wee to junior teams you know) They usually had pratice before or after our ice time and he and a few others would stay on for an extra 30 minutes and show us stuff, etc.. You get the idea....

There's one guy who had a big impact on the new CBA who won't ever play under the terms and conditions he helped negotiate.

You gotta think he ends up in the PA's Head Office. Or, possibly, the League office???

I doubt that. He was one of Goodenow's guys and Goodenow lost the power struggle within the union. Especially if the story about Linden getting into an arguement with Goodenow and firing him is accurate.

That was sharp. I would have forgotten about that.

Good point. He'll end up somewhere in the hockey world again...coaching...owning in Jr's...something.

He was a great locker room guy to have in San josde, my team. I met Patrick Marleau and he said that Vinnie was a big piece of the glue that brought the team together.

Sure. He was never the flashy guy but he made it #38 on the all time in scoring list. Not bad....to say the least. HOF´er for sure.
