Whip

Flex for me

Recommended Posts

I know its a personal prefernce thing but I just want to know what i should use, like as a rule of thumb what is the proper flex for me.

I am:

16

Slight build

5 feet 4 (last time i checked) <_<

185 pounds

Shot preference: Snap shots in slot area

In case some ppl dont kno, i play ball hockey which is hockey played in indoor cement, using hard orange ball on running shoes.

So I just want to kno what flex as a rule of thumb should i look into.

If you're 5'4", I'm sure that you are cutting down your sticks, so I'd say get a whip because you'll probably end up taking off around 4" inches. I think you're too big to be using an intermediate.

Ditto. Since you're a shorter guy, you'll most likely cut down the stick a few inches, unless you like your sticks long, but cutting inches will stiffen the stick, so an 85 flex for someone 5'8'' may be around 100 flex for you. I'll echo Koysdar, whip/85 flex.

I'd probably get an intermediate if I were you. A hockey ball weighs next to nothing so the whip that you get with a 75 flex stick should be quite nice. I hope you're not planning on getting an ops for floor hockey though as you'll eat through that thing in a couple of sessions.

5'4 185 and slight build? Are you sure you don't mean 6'4?

Unless he works out and is rip it seems kinda weird. I'm like 5'8" and only 150.

Well for the height i havent measured myself for like a year and a half, iam sure iam abit taller so maybe 5 7 or something, as for slight build, i cant really tell if iam slight build i just assumed i had a slight build because i didnt want to brag, ill jsut say i am medium build, iam by no means built like a pro athlete, those measurements are a bit inaccurate but i have to admit i gained alotta pounds this year, with school, i ahvent been able to do cardio and stuff like that, iam really pushing my self, i try to max out my weekends so i can train a bit more.

So anyhow, 75/85 flex would be good for me?

How much money are you willing to spend?

Money is not a issue for me right now, Iam willing to spend any amount on a good shaft, now by good shaft, i mean a good noraml shaft, NOT A taperd shaft.

The things Iam looking for is:

Consistent flex

Light (lighter then the cheaper shafts easton makes(like the ultra carbon or ocatne)

Durable (i want something taht will still stand tall after nasty slashes)

Well thats aobut it, o ya if u wanna recommend me getting any inno products forget it there is no way i can get my hands on any inno stuff cuz i am from canada.

Well if money isn't an issue for you then get an intermediate Redlite XN10. It's the lightest shaft on the market (might be in a tie with a flyweight) and the regular Redlite is known to be quite durable. The XN10 material is supposedly even more durable than aramid/graphite. If you want something with grip then the intermediate Vapor X might be a consideration too.

I'm thinking along the lines of Intermediate UL (If they have'em) maybe even a whip flex Tri-core. Both are fairly light and offer good durability.

IMO, I woulds say at least a 85-90..... I weigh 125 and us a 90 flex. But I guess its just personal preference. <_<
