Then it's fine and the site thought differently about another model of Graf skates. so it's might be different and it's fine if u don't have any problems with them

All I play is beer leauge REC hockey. ODB's are going to allow me to play for a few more years because of the reduced stress on my knees. I can maintain a proper crouch, without stressing my knees because of them. I plan on LAUGHING out loud at the first person to call me out for having them. Anybody worrying about that in a rec leauge needs to get a life.

Chadd, you know I suck even with the ODB's. ;) So, really, what is the big deal?

If you want to protect your knees, just play like joe. I don't care what anyone wears unless I'm reffing the game and there's a rule against it. At that point, I have to care.

Refs in my area were instructed to look for them. USAH considers it a safety issue as much as anything else.

Please tell me how a ODB is a safety risk? You know, one that makes it more unsafe than 10 meatheads with uncovered sharp blades moving around already is?

FWIW, I wear Smith SP2000's. The way they fit on me, the only time I ever feel the ODBs engage is when I am in my crouch. Any other time they are covered by the boot area of my pads. So, I would imagine the "safety" issue would result from a fear of them being exposed when the goalie is sprawled out in a "pretzel" save. Even then, I would think that my skates would be more of a risk, by a great margin, then the ODBs.

I wonder if the rules committee at USAH has any long time goalies on it? You know, like the rules committee in the NHL that makes rules regarding goaltenders, when that committee has NO goalies on it. Gee, that is fair.

I love ODB discussions. :)

LOL, so you want me to suck even more then? :D

I understand your position Chadd. But if you were to actually call me on it, I would have to go to the leauge and bring up issues... Well, you know. There are a GREAT many other things that should be more important.

As long as you don't mention the vodka in my water bottle, I don't care what you tell them. ;)

Nobody is going to make that call in a beer league game. To be honest, most of the refs would even ignore it in a youth game unless the other coach threatened to make a big deal about it.

Nice... Your secret is safe with me bro. That might explain some things. I admire that! LOL

Please note my arguement only applies to beer chug type leauges. In a highly competitive leauge, I can certainly see ODBs being a contrivance that unduly aids the goalie. Good thing, that ain't me.

;)

So, are you making all the players with the illegal Thornton curves change sticks? hmmmmm??

If someone asked for a measurement I would have to. Like it or not, it's the rule.

Chadd, im not trying to call you out or anything like that, so dont be offended

but are you honestly going to check every goalie before every game that you ref to make sure that they arent using overdrive blades ? it just doesnt seem like it will be worth the hassel.

and i also think that with all this player technology being a player myself, such as in sticks and skates, goalies are going to need some improvements also to keep up with the game

I'm not offended or upset, I actually think that debating topics is a good thing.

Will I go out of my way to look for them? No. If I happen to see them, will I enforce the regulation? Yes.

Goalie gear has benefitted from the technology revolution as much as any player gear. Compare a pair of goalie pads from 20 years ago or 10 years ago with brand new pads. They weigh less, absorb less water and are far more protective.

I ahve OD blades.and all they do is astop you fomr sliding real far on a new sheet of ice .

What pads do you have? Are you a stand up or butterfly goalie?

I ask, because I notice they do much more for me. Not the crazy crap you see on the videos on the website, but I notice them most in deep crouches and when trying to recover from the butterfly.
