You go to your post office, and buy a money order for X amount of dollars in the name of the person you're sending it to. Then you send it in the mail. When it gets to them, they cash it like a cheque. If you're converting from one currency to another there is a nominal fee (I just bought a $90 USD money order, direct conversion works out to be 106 bucks, and I paid 110 for it) plus the cost of the money order itself. One thing to be weary of is there's virtually no way of getting your money back if you do it through a money order, so make sure the person is trustworthy, or it's an actual store you're buying through.

I wouldn't suggest paying by money order unless you are sure you won't find a similar product listed at a similar price for quite some time. I've had about three transactions with money orders over eBay, and none of them went as smoothly as others have been. The description turned out to be inaccurate or the seller changed terms. The problem is once they have your money order, there is little you can do.

But, to answer your question, you can go to either the Post Office or Wal-Mart (probably other places also) with the proper amount of cash plus enough for the service fee, and they will create a money order for you. I know the PO makes the MO directly to that seller, but I'm not sure about Wally's. You then mail that money order to the seller.

If possible, do it thru American Express. I've sent MOs with them and they were more like cheques in the sense that they could be re-issued if they original wasn't cashed.

I'm in Canada... and the guys have over 1100 feedback...but wont accept any other thing except money order..

But i think the thing would't go up more than 30-40US(if it goest higher i wont bid on it)...Could you just send the exact price or like TOKES said...i can only buy a ''certain determinate price''

You can do it online at www.westernunion.com

I think you will need the sellers actual address to do it.

I did it a few times when buying some antiques from China. It is risky though, it is like sending cash. There is no way to get it back if the item does not come thru. I would definitely only do it with a seller with 200+ positive feedbacks and none or maybe one negative feedback.

If you are sending MO to the States make sure it is a Bank Money Order. You can buy them at the Post Office as well, but, I've heard of some American banks have refused Postal Money Orders.

I don't see how they can, but whatever.

I bought a jersey from a guy $40 US + exchange (at the time it was higher) + MO cost...I think it was $59-60 CAN total.

I have never had a problem with any of the 10 MO transactions that I have done. Of course they do not work as paying with Paypal but there some some ups.

Paypal

Cons - need credit card to verify, you must trust your bank account/credit card online.

Pros - fast, secure, and there is a middle man now.

Money Order

Cons - No middle man, slow, seller can't always cash them

Pros - no credit card needed, no risk in terms of giving cc/bank account numbers out.

I always look at Paypal sellers first... 5 years no...I mean NO problems...

When I rarely use an MO because teh seller did not accept Paypal it was because I could not find it elsewhere.... and It takes me days or a week longer to pay....

ask whbd18 how long it took me to get him his MO...lol
