Tapeing a blade?

What are the advantages to using wide tape and narrow tape on your blade?

If you tape thick (closer) you'll have more cushioning. I tape close on OPSs, wide on wood.

I mean actually wider tape. Not how you tape it.

Like 1.5" tape as opposed to 1" tape? I would rather use 1" because it's just easier to tape with. The wider the tape is, it is harder to tape smoothly. It just creats a bunch of ripples. I'd use the thinnest tape I could find if I could.

i second ambro's statement, its really hard to keep the wide tape smooth, so i use it primarily for the knob

I like using the thick stuff, its easier for me to tape and it seems like you get more use per roll. Plus I always tape over the toe, and its easier to do that with thicker tape.

I like the thicker tape, just seems easier to work with for me.
