If you're really concerned about the weight of your stick don't use tape. If you have to use an end plug go with the plastic cap type. If you need a longer plug - drill out the centre of the wood one.

But on the ice, how many of us have time to think about the two grams of extra weight a stick might have?

As for painting the Innos, I'd covered the whole shaft except for where I tape my knob and where you'd heat to put in the blade.

if anyone cares, i finally got my hands on a polarfibre grip inno shaft (thanks to kovalchuk71). after about four coats of krylon clear, no more polarfibre. its pretty smooth as is, but i might go another layer or two. we'll see how it holds up. pics:
