Name on Gloves (updated with pictures)

Recommended Posts

My wife has purchased a pair of gloves for me for Christmas. I'd like to get my name put on the cuff. So far, all the embroidery places I've contacted have said they cannot do it. They said the gloves are too thick and the "plastic" in between inhibits the stitching. One place said they could stitch a name tag and sew that onto the glove.

Is there any truth to the statement that it is difficult (impossible) to put a name on a cuff after production? What would I say to a place in order to gain a hearing about this? What places might be able to do this?

BTW, the gloves are Sande MaxPro's, which are nylon. I live in New Hampshire.

Probably the easiest way is to remove the piece of nylon where you want you name, stitch it on and then put that piece back on the glove. try Northern sports (fixitbymail.com)

It's Christmas Eve, close enough to open a present. I ended up contacting a local threadworks/embroidery business. They made name tags and sewed them on the gloves. The camera flash makes it seem like the name tags stand out, but they really do not. It is a nice blend with the fabric and seems natural.

Not a bad job for a post production. The cost was only $8 per glove to do the whole thing.
