Adding an Assist

They just showed this on TSN...Iggy is wearing the mic, and he and his linemates are discussing a play...then he goes to one of the refs and says:

Iggy: "Hey Fur (Eric Furlatt)...can you add #20 to our 3rd goal?"

Ref: "You're 3rd?"

Iggy: "Yes...Please"

I didn't realize a player (even the Capt) could do that. I thought a stats guy up in the pressbox reviewed the plays to decide 1st & 2nd asssits.

Have I mentioned how much I love this mic'd up feature? I love the little things that we never got to hear before.

They do, but sometimes they don't catch it all. Alot of the times they'll ask players if they scored it or not.

I think you can suggest the refs make changes, absolutely. They miss things all the time. But as others mentioned, it's subject to review.

I wonder though. If an assist is missed during the game. And nobody from either team catches it. Then say a day or two pass, can an assist be added/subtracted retroactively?
