By the way, isn't Jeff Garcia gay? Lol.

Garcia has never come out and said it, but I believe former teammate T.O. was quoted as saying something along the lines of "If it looks like a rat and smells like a rat..." I'm sure the lisp and playing in San Francisco all those years didn't help the rumors much.

The story's kind of a big deal if it's true, and the fact that he has chosen to pose in a gay magazine might mean something's up, a cry for help, a statement, whatever. He will be the first male athlete in a MAJOR masculine team sport to come out while playing. There has probably been a soccer player in Europe to do the same (not sure though), but it is more accepted in Europe.

Regarding Navratilova and the figure skaters, you already kind of knew, so when they came out, there wasn't much shock value. I remember reading somewhere that Navratilova was actually born a man/hermaphrodite, so I'm not even sure if he/she/it truly qualifies as gay.

I remember alot of rumors of him and french singer Roch Voisine but they were never officially confirmed but they kinda were tossed out when Roch married that super hot chick. But on Latendresse there was a debate yesterday on that. He got interviewed on a gay magasine called something like the East Side (those of you that visited Montreal may know that the Eastern part of the Island if where the gay community is). He was interviewed by a girl and the pictures is simply a pic of him wearing his hockey pants, his Voltigeur socks and you see him kinda combing his hair back with his hands with nothing on his upper torso. The pics seem to have been taken in the Voltigeur's dressing room.

EDIT: The magasine is called The Village, I haven't read the article so far, only little bits but one question was if he had a gf and he only said no that he was single, so kinda weird. No "official" statement yet from his part but I don't know why people can get out of control over that. We're in the 21st century for god sakes. If he is indeed gay, good for him, it shows he can take pressure on and off the ice. People in Quebec are just flipping over it cause he would be the first openly gay person that plays hockey at a high level (probably will play for the Habs next year) and from Quebec.

well, folks from quebec are pretty strict catholics, which may be why they're in an uproar

I don't want to start a rumor (although I have heard it several times) here, but has anyone ever seen Mike Modano with a female? The guy also lost most of his millions 2 years ago due to "bad investments". Nobody is that foolish. Anyone else smell extortion?

Wendel isn't gay, you can see him often with his wife on tv, they even did a showcase on him a couple of months ago on TSN and how he built a rink for his kids and a loundge for him in a barn.

Rudy Galindo goes beyond gay into flaming, whereas we spoke with Stephane Richer for an hour during the Induction Weekend and didn't have any hint of it. As a matter of fact, we all thought he was a pretty cool guy.

If he was gay, he didn't make us feel uncomfortable, while it seems from interviews that Rudy Galindo revels in making people uncomfortable about his sexual preference.

Modo isn't gay...well at least he wasn't. He might be now. You lose millions of dollars, you're bound to go a little crazy.

He was with Kristy Swanson (chick from Buffy the movie). She was on Howard Stern a few years ago, and apparently Modo was with some girl for a long time, basically engaged, then Kristy started hangin around with hockey players, and Modo dumped his girl and started going out with Kristy for awhile.

Interesting story...Kristy was also dating Alan Thicke (dad from Growing Pains). He was head over heals for her. And he's from Ontario and plays in all the Hollywood Ice Hockey games and charity events.

She must have a thing for hockey players.

One of the stars of the Women's NBA just came out a while ago. I remember it being news for about a day.

Team sports always creates a certain tension when a homosexual is involved. I don't know how I'd react to a homosexual teammate - I may have had one, who knows? I know I'm not attracted to every single female in the world, so is it right in thinking a homosexual would be attracted to every guy? I don't think so.

I think what other people are trying to say is that there has never been an active player in a team sport come out...golf and tennis aren't team sports.

Moose? Gay? Never! He's had Madonna, Tyra Banks...not to mention he has like 10 illegitimate kids. He's pretty much the man.

Bure, now I dunno bout him. He is European. But he was with Anna. That drove Sergei crazy.

Anderson? Like I said, alien, gay, whatever...he was HUGE in 94!

Well, no I don't really think ALL Europeans are gay. It's kinda like the stereotype about Polish people being stupid. Obviously they aren't all stupid. But then again, there is something to stereotypes...

Eddie George is gay???? I had no idea. Legwand always has this little smile goin on, and a twinkle in his eye, so I think I can see that one.

Yeah, down here he's known as "Sweet Eddie." He's another guy who has/had a wife and a kid, but something's just not right there. If anyone's been in his bar down here it seems like every other sports bar-type place, till you see the music and videos playing.

As for Leggy I dunno, less confirmation on that but I think he's just too ugly for sex period.
