Iginla is a great player and leader, but I think it'd be a real slap in the face not to give it to a guy like Sakic. Iggy deserves an "A" I'd say though, not many guys lead with his kind of passion and intensity.

Another consideration, if he makes the team, is Shane Doan. He always brings a lot of intensity and let's face it he's gretzky's guy

Sakic deserves it for what he has brought over the past few tournaments especially but this is a great opportunity to identify the leader of the future for Team Canada. I still see it being Sakic though because nobody like Iginla, Thornton or Lecavalier has had a good enough year to warrant captaincy responsibilities on a national level. If this situation has arised at the World Cup, however, I would have said Iginla in a heartbeat, he still has an outside chancce though.

I think Sakic deserves it but I think it will go to a slightly younger guy like Iggy who will be captain for future teams as well. This may be the last major international cometition for Sakic and they may want to have some continuity in leadership.

There going to bring Yzerman in to be the off ice captian and only have "A"s on the team. I mean why not make use of one of the greatest leaders ever to play the game.
