Recommended Posts

so im thinking of spending between 200-280 on new skates

so im in a pickle

the beemer (but they heavy)

top of the 05 line missions 950 (light but eyelets probs)

new mission 7500?

or blue max

i am quick foward not a big guy (5'6) wide foot

and play defense often too

wut you guys think?

im leaning toward the 950 for $269 on hockeymonkey cause they got e width

i have a pair of 350's but i broke 2 eyelets already after 6 months

and i improved ALOT since i got them

Putting all my problems with the Tours aside, they have their ups and downs. The Beemers and Blue Maxs are heavy no doubt. You can put some micro bearings in there and it will lighten them up some. However, there is definately a decrease in agility IMHO. If you're a player that thrives on quickness and agility, they are not the skate for you. I have wide feet, and they fit pretty nice for a D width. FuryofOne from here plays D on one of my roller teams, and he got the Blue Maxs. After a few games he had to go back to his PF8s. I think he felt he lost alot of agility and couldn't maneuver they way he felt he should.

The 950s are very light, but have durability issues with the eyelets.

I would go with the 7500s. Everything about this new series skate makes me think they are well-built and will set a new industry standard for both performance and durability.

However, I do have wide feet, and breaking in the 9500s has been a SLLLLLOOOOOOWW process. I won't heatbake them due to past issues, but perhaps you can.

Well if you're going to get skates based on the stock wheels, then you have some thinking to do. Remember the skates will last longer than your wheels ever will. I would concern myself more about the skates than the wheels, which are easily replaced.

But, take this to thought...

950s came with Factory wheels which only a very few people have mentioned they liked. Most people I have talked to or seen on here have mentioned major durability issues such as chunking and loss of grip in a relatively short amount of time.

Blue Maxs only come with Milleniums. Good wheel, not the best.

Beemers come with Dynasties, little better. I like them. Not the best overall, but good for a stock wheel.

Also remember that the Hornet and the MB816 (on the 7500s) are not the same exact wheel. I took the MB816s out and have been using them on my older skates while i break in the 9500s and I've been very happy with them.

I don't know much about them. They seemed decently light. Other than that, I tend to stay away from any CCM skates. No particular reason, they just don't fit me well.

I would say go with what fits you. If you have been using Missions, go with them. This year's skates won't let you down.

My teammates make fun of me cuz I literally have 5 pairs of skates that I can use at any one time. I don't use them all, but all I gotta do is put some wheels in them and I could. This may sound cool, but you really should stick with a pair that fits and performs and go with that. All the meddling I have done can be counter-productive (breaking in new skates, getting used to fits and performance, etc.). It's just that I am super picky with skates. I really haven't been truly happy with any of the skates that came out over the past 2 or 3 years...until this year. I bought CCM Outcasts, converted Easton Zair Comp SEs, Bauer 30-90, Mission D1C, D1 Limted...and I found myself going back to my trusty 99 VSIs everytime. However, this year the Code1s and now these Mission 9500s have been very good. I had issues with the Code1s chassis, but the boot has been good. The 9500s are a great boot as well.

i recently got the 7500s to replace my nike roller daddys. i originally got them because i wanted a lighter skate, but i now realize they they are heavier. overall, they are really comfortably, but i feel kind of "clunky" when skating in them. also, the hornets lost their grip completely in one game. i'm sure thats due to dust but still... overall, the 7500s are good skates, but not themost nimble feeling

What 96 said is true. I love the boot on the Bluemax, but I didn't feel as quick and agile as in the PF8s. Maybe I didn't give the Hu'mer chassis enough time to get used to, but in my opinion, I feel a lot more comfortable in PF8s. They're decently light and fit wider than most skates and had a very easy break in for me. I still have the Hornets that came with the skates and have held up well for over 6 months. Might be thinkin' about some Reeboks pretty soon just for the heck of it. I stay away from Mission because I've had nothin' but problems with their skates. Your best bet would be to try all of those on and see what fits best.

Go with what fits best, sorry I cannot comment more on any of those lines other than that. Take advantage of the trade section here (once you have enough posts) and try to sell them. RR's Hornets are very popular and I'm sure they'd be easy to swap.

do the 9500's come with mini-bearings or standard bearings?

Swiss mini.

What? I didn't include that in my PM to you? Lol.

Nope, every site I look on says they come with 608 Swiss's and MB816's. I thought 608 were regular and MB's were only available in Micro so it was throwing me off, thanks for the clarification though.

Not sure what sites you were looking at. The sites I've seen say "Swiss Micro Bearings". But there are a ton of sites, so I'm sure the mistakes are out there.

But the MB816 is a micro hub wheel only. The hornets are still the standard size. So if the site said "MB816, 608 bearings" that wouldn't have made sense.

I checked 1800Faceoff, HockeyGiant, HockeyMonkey and Epuck. Only Epuck correctly lists them as Swiss Micro.

That's messed up. I'm thinking these places are probably going on some kind of catalog or press release that is incorrect. So they see the mistake in their literature, and post the mistake on their sites.

Justin, you may want to have a look at that.

Nice find EZ.

When I baked my 950s I couldn't kick my foot back all the way because some of the inside padding formed back too far. I thought I just screwed up baking them but my other friends heliums did the same thing. Ive had six other pairs of missions baked em all and nothing like that happened. I baked em right away so I dont know how they were before. Other than that problem I loved my 950s. I used the red max and they feel totally different than any other skate, not bad though. I got used to them and really liked the way the felt.

well, the 7500's look the coolest so go with them :D ,

Actually, the only peice of advice that I could go with(and this is very little compared to what #96 had given you) but in your original post it seemed like you were concered about missions not having your correct size, but since its a new hot skate, it makes every possible size. good luck on this one.

I have a pair for CCM PF10's and they are top of the line from top to bottom... haven't had any problems with them and have not seem anyone else on this board who has any problems either. i'm sure the PF8 is almost as good as well.. can't lose on the current CCM line in my book.

I have the 7500 and love them , i had the PF8's, but they were to weak and didnt support my feet but this problem was solved with the 7500, they are very stiff and supportive and not that heavy either.

buy the boot that fits you best, if the weight of the Blue Max/Beemer was an issue you'd have seen Tour pros in their older G80/90 etc at big events, a guy like Greg Thompson, Jay Allan, Unger, Mazer, none are big guys (although Thompson is tall) and who move their feet quite well..

without the 950 on the market..you wouldn't be discussing weight....I'm not sure of the weights on the new skates and how they compare..
