Guitar question

Recommended Posts

ok ,ive been playing guitar for a year and a half and i think its about time i got a new guitar. Last christmas i got a new amp(randall rg75) and it made my guitar sound so much better(epiphone les paul 100)

so anyways ,i can only play les paul style guitars cause any other guitar has the volume knob too close to where i pick and my pinky runs into it and its just a mess.

i looked at gibson les paul studios and then i saw the esp ltd ec 400at and i was wondering if the only thing the les paul has on it is the name gibson.

both are set neck ,but the ec 400 has real seymour duncans jb/59 and yeah ,why is it only $760 can. and will this sound alot better then my les paul 100?

The les paul studios have gibson pickups, which are excellent pickups if they are your style, also the studio is made in the U.S. of A and the esp is made in korea and yes the esp will sound much better than your les paul 100,much better pickups in the esp. The gibson has a better build quality, but as for sound you will have play both and decide for yourself. Personnally I would rather have epiphone les paul with the pickups of your choice because the stock ones arent any good, but I am biased because this is my curent setup. Any of these setups will blow your lp 100 out of the water.

The pickups in the ESP are better by a wide margin. Check the neck on the ESP and the action. If it's straight and it's set up well the ESP will be a good guitar. I haven't been keeping up with the guitar side of things lately but the overseas stuff was usually a little more hit or miss than the US made stuff. The good ones are just fine but a little harder to find than with the American made models.

are washburn acoustics decent?

Some of them used to offer excellent value but I'm not sure on the current models.

I still miss the first one I ever bought with my own money. A BC Rich Mockingbird with a Floyd, gold hardware and a purple crackle finish. My Bass player in HS had a Warlock bass with the blue crackle finish. Talk about rockin the 80s look.

get the ec400 with EMG's. a little more moneyi think but emgs sound better than duncans. but then again iam a metal guy so that might be the reason.

I'm not sure how heavy the epiphone les pauls are, but the real ones are heavy. I love them, but I also have a 72 SG deluxe, which is a lot lighter (and will be more in the ESP weight range), so you may want to go to your local store, and see how you feel with it strapped on.

I love humbucker pickups, so either one should be good.

Its just your own preference.

My first ever guitar was a spanish classical hondo guitar, and I ruined it by putting steel strings on it and warping the neck. I was only 12 at the time, and nylon strings were for weaklings, because I knew nothing about guitars at the time.

I would play wild thing, or c'mon everybody, the first 2 songs I learned, and it would go out of tune, but I would keep playing.

I still have it in an attic back in Ireland

i was going to but its ugly for one thing(gross cutout on the cutaway ,no binding) and id rather have seymours because i play alot of heavy stuff ,but i still play cleans too. overall the 400AT is more versatile i think.

i dont mind the weight. i have an epiphone les paul 100(low end) right now(i bought it back from the guy i sold it too ,i couldnt live without it :D) and its a decent weight. I dont think im gonna get an epiphone becuase i tried out a zakk wylde sig which is one of the better epiphones and my 100 sounded and felt just as good and its the lowest end les paul besides the special II. and the esp is sitting in tom lee on hold so i can buy it in....5 hours and then i have to wrap it and put it under the tree.

my first song was seek and destroy ,i loved to crank my amp at play that for a few hours. then i learned aint talkin bout love.

You can put EMGs on a 2x4 and it sounds exactly the same as a Les Paul or a Strat with EMGs. Personally, I prefer the character of the instrument to shine though.

I've owned five Les Pauls, but only have one left (74 gold top deluxe). I actually miss a couple of the other ones.
