Basically you don't need a gym to be fit.

Run, Plyometrics, pull-ups, push-ups, wrist curls, crawls, sit-ups, reverse push-ups, jumps, there is alot you can do at home. I know alot of people work out at home without any weights. Also you may want to look into a work-out ball they help with resistance. Some gyms let you in at 16 as well. Thats when I first joined. I'd go with my parents and have them talk to the person in charge of signing up. My advice if you do sign up would be to avoid signing a contract wit ha pre-determined length.

Parents say that my growth plates will be strong enought to with stand the pressure of gym workouts, incase of any injuries. Its proablly just a myth but I rather wait till Iam 17 to ensure I grow to my maxium hegiht cuz Iam still pretty short.

when he says one legged barbell squats, does he mean basic weighted squats, but on one leg? It sounds kind've difficult or is it just leading with one leg?

To touch on what Theo said, I went to high school with a guy who was like 5'6" when he was 17-18 and he ended up being around 6'1".

You can still do weights, just don't try bulking up too quicky at too young of an age. Lift light to moderate weights for conditioning, do more reps. And don't stick to the gym, mix it up. I think SB39 had mentioned track training in an earlier thread.

I just go at my school for free. Also try and find a smaller gym, or get into boxing, theres always a gym at a boxing place, and plus boxing is good too (espically if you are a fighter).

I have questions on what some of the exercises are:

1)basiclly what are all the leg exercises?

2)straight bar push downs?

3)bent dumbbell laterals?

4)lying head cavers?

5)what can you do in place of leg press?

Look them up on www.bodybuilding.com. They should have detailed explanations and pictures of all the exercises listed or variations of them.

i started working out with weights at 14 i was 5ft even i am 16 and 5ft. 6in to 7in

it will not stunt your growth as long as u lift progessively, light weights while you learn proper form ALWAYS USE PROPER FORM!!! then slowly raise the weight to one that you can do for 8-12 reps with PROPER FORM
