SL for roller?

Recommended Posts

hey, ive been offered an easton SL, but being as i only play roller, is it worth getting it? ive heard the durability sucks on these sticks so was just wondering if its gonna break on me pretty soon! or would it be a bit better being as the roller balls/pucks are lighter?

thanks for anyhelp you can give me!

A guy on my team went camp in canada and brang back two............ He now has none and that was only 4 months ago. The dura on them sticks SUCKS! U might as well play with a tooth pick...... Should last longer than a SL. Altho he said the feel of the stick is really good, that dont cut it for me. Has to have good durability too.

Alright death moves,

yeah thats what i was thinking, i was offered them for about £115 each... which in england, is quite cheap for a one piece.

what you think mate?

Three people I know that use one for roller say they love the stick, but it does not last worth anything. They all crack in the same place too. I wouldn't get one.

I got mine in like april and then it broke in a roller hockey game with a dirty slash in july. For the time I had it, i loved it but, like said before, not the best durability!

It seems like its one of those 'nice while it lasts' sticks, so i think ill probably turn this one down! save my money for another one!

Thanks guys you saved me some cash there!

TURN THE SL DOWN....I absolutely love the feel of the stick, the weight, etc, however, after a few good slapshots the blade goes as soft as a (insert random one-liner here). It breaks so fast, I broke 4 of them and all of the sticks have started out by softening and eventually cracking at the top of the blade, and then working its way down. I turned one into an SL-esis, but it still doenst quite do it. If I were you and I were gonna be spending money on an SL, I would buy a Hex-1, an L-2, a Synergy ST, or a Vapor XX. Hope I helped. Good Luck Man!!!

i know the ST's are meant to be more durable... but when it comes down to it, are they? whats people personal experiences and opinions on the ST's?

I had an SL grip. Got it beginning of one season, and hated it. Did not like the grip whatsoever. The stick itself, blade, was fine. Just the grip I didn't like.

I used a couple of times throughout 1 season. Next season I started using it and loved it. I guess I got used to the grip or something. As Sass said, the blade started to crack at the top of the blade. Finally, it cracked enough that I just ended it's mysery.

Then I cut the shaft, turned into a 2 piece and loved it even more! Couldn't have been happier with a stick. This past Friday I took a nasty hack and now the stick is dead. But it lasted a long time.

As a one piece, it lasted me about (I play on 3 teams in one season, 10 games each team, so 30 games) 20-25 games or 25 hours of gameplay. As a two-piece it lasted me about 30-35 games. So total use for the SL was roughly 55 games or so. Not bad IMHO.

Durability, to me, is more luck of the draw. Some guys go easy on their sticks and get good wear. Other guys beat them up, and they last 2 games. But then again, you could be very easy on your sticks, and 2nd game into use, take a bad slapshot, and bang! There goes your one piece.

Like I said, it's really just a matter luck and whether or not you're willing to shell out $150+ on a gamble that the stick will last a long time.

I have an ST grip, and IMO, I don't really like it. It's only a shaft, but I kept going back to my Hex-1 and M-1 shaft with a Synthesis blade

I actually had very good luck with my SL. I bought one of the original ones from BTM after the Vegas show last year and I played the hell out of it on Sportcourt a few games a week. The paintjob was pretty tattered but the stick finally broke last week after a blocked slapshot.

I've recently been using an ST and I just can't get the same pop in my shots with it....I hate it. Don't know why, other than that I suck. :P
