roller hockey instructional videos

Recommended Posts

I was pointed in the direction of the Robby Glantz videos as a result of another thread. Those DVD's look like pretty much what I need for myself and my boys. Are the Glantz tapes better or at least as good as any thing else on the market? If not, who is better? I am pretty much teaching myself and trying to keep my kids a little ahead of the curve on their beginning teams. We are strictly Roller, as the nearest ice is two hours a way.

Thanks!

I have followed previous threads on this forum regarding instructional videos. They all seem to stop when this same question come up regarding inline videos.

So can I assume 1) There are no instrucional videos out there for inline hockey?; 2) this is a really stupid question and I should not ask it?; or 3) the ice hockey videos will cover everything that roller hockey needs and I should just buy Robby Glantz's two speed skating videos?????

Thanks again

You might be better off looking at some private lessons instead of DVD's. I don't know of any videos specific for roller hockey.

Thanks Hiub, I have been slowly coming to that same conclusion. The trouble is that everyone involved in the sport here is a volunteer and seems to have at least one other real job, so I find it hard to imagine folks having much free time. ALso we have only one rink, and when it is open it is not quite conducive to privates. Whine, whine, whine... :(

I'll keep looking.

Look under Boby Hull Jr, and Brett Hull, they made some videos on inline hockey in the mid nineties. In fact those were the only ones I have seen, however I think Peter Dale of www.usaclinics.com might know of some others (414 899 5960)..He runs inline clinics all over the country.

I just fired off a few e-mails looking for info from Peter Dale. I did a google for the Hull's and inline videos and a scoring and shooting series came up. Is that the one you remember seeing?

Here is a great series of roller hockey specific videos...I highly recommend them...

http://www.superskillsseries.com

Wholley Cow, Jason!! :o

Thank you so , much. That looks exactly like what I am needing. How do these compare to any of the others recommended in this thread in terms of quality and quantity? SInce they are roller specific I am sure they are awesome. I am going to wait a little while for a few feedbacks before taking the plunge, but if no one has any detractions on these, I'll go for them. It may take a while, but I will give some feedback on them eventually too.

Thank you,

gman

Well I have been trading e-mails with USA clinics. And he recommended Sean Skinner from http://www.champonline.com/sticbrbeybel.html as well as the Smart Hockey series from http://www.smarthockey.com/ . He said the super skills series is good, but the first two mentioned are better. Does anyone have any more insight on this??

Thank you again.

After spending some e-mail time with Peter Dale of USA clinics, I decided to order the Sean Skinner 6-pack of instructional DVD's. The smarthockey ones were really cool, unfortunately I do not have a computer that I can dedicate to hockey training. I need my only one for all the other stuff we do. Thanks for everyone's input.
