Does anyone know a local shop in the DC area

Recommended Posts

OK, so I have a pair of inline skates, but they are just fitness ones I got and hardly ever used. I only have ice hockey skates, not roller hockey. I have tried to find a local shop in the Washington DC area but cannot find one.

All I want is a pair of fairly cheap roller hockey skates that I can practice in. Someone told me the regular inline skates you get at the like of Sports Authority are completly different to roller hockey skates, and to keep the ice/roller continuity, I need to get a pair of proper hockey skates.

So here is my dilema. I don't want to spend a whole lot of money, but don't mind spending a bit.

If someone knows a roller hockey shop in the DC area I would appreciate the info. If not, could someone help me with sizing please.

Do roller and ice hockey skates fit the same.

I use CCM 852 tacks, the 2004 model, 11.5 E for hockey, and they are a great fit for me, and comfortable.

While I would like to use a local dealer, if I can't find one, I will just buy sight unseen online.

I will be using them mostly on Tarmac (asphalt?). So with that in mind, if someone could give me some advice on these skates, I would appreciate it, or recommend something else in this sort of price range.

Mission A50 skates - 2005 $79.99, they have Size 11, 12, 13

CCM Vector PF2 Skates - 2005 - $99.99, they have size 12

Mission He500 Senior Skates - 2006 - $99.99, they have size 11, 12, 13 all E width

Mission He150 Senior Skates - 2005 - $84.99, 11, 12, 13 all D width

2003 Mission R - $39.99, Size 12, 13

Mission He350 Senior Skates - 2005 - $99.99, 11, 12, 13 all D width

Thanks for any help you can give me, I appreciate it

Try The Hockey Stop in Rockville, MD. I went in there a couple of years ago - not sure if they have RH stuff. Also try Skate Frederick - see if they have a proshop.

Smoke I am also in DC and skate selection is very poor in our area. I highly suggest getting in touch with epuck. They are very good with customer service and understand that you might have to make some after purchase adjustments. If Sports Auth skates don't make the mark try these 2. Be warned they are mostly ice hockey but have some lower end roller stuff

If your going to buy online, go with Epuck.com...especially if your not really sure of what you want...the guys there(Damon) especially will help ya out the best they can and then if you get them and the skates dont fit you can return them(a very easy process, and no restocking fee's etc...)

I called fairfax, its close to where I live, and they didn't have a lot of info. I also called the reston proshop, which is where I have bought a lot of my stuff from, but they had nothing.

Will give forsports a whirl, since I work in greenbelt, may be worth a stop some evening

Thanks

I had some of the 03 Mission R skates and they held up fairly well. I did a review about them on londonskaters.com some time back. You can check it out here, if interested.

mission r review

This is just my feeling on them remember, and does not reflect the ideas or beliefs of management. ;)
