analog999 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 I haven't been using the boards very long, but it seems to me that sometimes threads get killed rather quickly... for example, the woo woo thread that just got locked. I mean, I hadn't seen that. Why not let people comment on it? If it is such a terrible thread then it will go away on its own when people post.
mack 44 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 It's been mentioned before in threads, so why have repeat threads?
lando_8 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 can we lock this thread??jk... B) perhaps an explanation of why a thread was locked might help people?
Project_2501 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 It's been mentioned before in threads, so why have repeat threads? I think that's a good enough explanation.
mack 44 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 I think he means just add an explanation right before it's locked. I guess that's a good point, unless it's painfully obvious as to why it's locked.
lando_8 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 ok, maybe I missed it in this thread then??http://www.modsquadhockey.com/index.php?showtopic=18038I know the thread may be a little stupid, but...it was just a suggestion...something like,"thread has been locked by (insert mod name here) for (insert reason here/other thread here)"
Project_2501 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 Well, that may be a bad example for persuading the mods to give reasoning, but I see your point. In some cases, I'd agree. That, not one of them.
analog999 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 Certainly I didn't quite understand why my flip flop thread was closed down - I figured I must have offended someone, but I wasn't too concerned about that. Closing threads just because someone discussed it in the past without providing a link to the old thread before it's locked doesn't seem like good housekeeping to me. I personally don't see why it is such a big deal to have multiple threads on a subject. If the person's question/comment is answered by the old thread that someone points them to (which is a nice gesture), then it will likely die on its own -- but perhaps they have a different question to ask, want more opinions or need more info. Duder84 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2006 it makes for convoluted searches....why use 8 threads to answer4 questions? Plus i think folks are doing a pretty good job in terms of finding old threads for those who are looking for them

When you look into the tech specs, everything thats posted on to servers and stuff eats on bandwith etc... So why would we want to have 10 threads about Crosby vs. Ovechkin which will cost JR and the boys some more, when we can have one thread etc... The flip flop thread was sort of stupid, because nobody "Pimps Flops". If you do then WOW, get a new hobby.

Obviously people DO pimp flops, or I wouldn't have found those pictures. I don't see why it is any worse than any number of other threads. No offense to JR or any of the boys who pay for the boards, but its not like it should cost an exorbinant amount of money to host this board. If they would put in google ads, I would gladly click away a couple times a day to help pay for them. (edit -- I would gladly donate a couple bucks a month with paypal to help out if it is such a heavy burden.)I agree with you that 10 ovechkin vs. crosby threads would be bad if they were all happening at the same time, but a 2006 o v. c thread might be different than a 2010 one, don't you think?
