New stick for Kovalev?

Has anyone else noticed that it seems like alex may be useing a new stick at the oylimpics? I have seen a few close up's and i know it's still a warrior stick but up by the top end of the stick there is a small area that is not blacked out and it looks like a gray shaft that he is useing.

Just wondering if anyone else has notice this or knows anymore about it.

P.S, if anyone has any Kovy pro stock blades they would consider selling PLEASE PLEASE let me know, I need a few more!!!!!

I wish i could see the whole stick witout all the tape and paint on it.

Kovalev is using a Warrior with the graphics blacked out. Warrior didn't pay a fee, so they are not allowed to have their logo showing during the Olympics.

There is a pro shop here in NY that has some older Easton replacement blades with Kovalev on the sticker. These must be from his Rangers days. The shop is called Wonderland of Ice in NYC.

I could be wrong here, but I think that is a Warrior AK shaft, that he has painted black and candycaned with a russian sticker? The reason is may look grey is it could be a thin coate of black paint and the black candycane shows up more.

but i was looking at getty images and there was a pic of Kovalchuk hugging Nabokov after the game vs. Canada. To my surprise he was using a v130!

I posted that pic in the russia vs. canada thread... no one had too much to say about I guess...

Maybe it was late in the game and he thought he should use a legal stick so he didn't get a penalty, and didn't have any warriors in Italy that were legal.

I think the Easton Blade was wood. There may have only been 1 left. I don't use the pattern so I didn't buy it. It's a LH. I would call ahead before making the trip as I saw that blade this past wed. I was more impressed by the new arrivals of the XXX lite's!

really? i thought there wasn't an illegal stick rule in the olympics? Does Kovalchuk have an endorsement deal with a brand at the moment? I knew he was with nike/bauer for a while but I'm not sure if he's still with them.

Malkin's curve is crazy. It looks like a 90 degree angle!
