Revision Wheel I'd Like To See

Recommended Posts

I had been skating on Hornet 78's and recently decided to give the Revision Golds a try. Only skated 2 games but they have a great combination of speed and grip. And with no sign of wear I think they have a great product out. While I know the wheel itself is light, the 608 bearings are still killing the weight. I'll take performance over weight any day, an example being the RR MB816's I tried and did not really like. They were light yes, but seemed harder, less grippy, and really just had a much different feel to it than I'd prefer. IMO RR should have tried to make the wheel light but still feel like a Hornet. So in short... I'd like to see a 688 Revision wheel that keeps the same major design features, but allows lighter 688 bearings.

i think rinkrats did make a light and good performing wheel, the blue flames.. LOVE the wheels and i don't know why they canned it so soon.

maybe eventually we will see something like this come out. Many companies have switched over to mini bearings. I personally dont see the big difference between minis and 608s. I guess i like durability more than weight.. being that i think 608s have lasted me longer in the past. Revision wheels happen to be amazingly light even without mini bearings.. but who knows. Hope you guys that are trying the revisions like them as much as myself and many others

I'm surprised that mini's have come back ...2-3 years ago you couldn't get rid of them cheap enough..

for a Revision wheel the most interesting thing with a mini would be how they would have to change the Torus to keep the same feel...

for me..@210...saving a couple ounces is like going to a buffet and ordering a diet coke or light beer...

hahahahaaaaaa thats great haha.. i hated my minis 2-3 years ago.. right away i got adapters for my minis and then just got 608s.. havent used mine yet this year but im assuming they have been holding up so who knows.. i still prefer the 608s with revisions

You see with me its more convenience than it is weight or any of that stuff. I use minis because I have a brand new pair of BSB abec 7 minis sitting in my closet tha I used 4 times (I wanted to try minis out) and I have a practicly brand new pair of skates (mission 9500) that came with minis. Sooo I dont feel like buying a new pair of swiss bearings just to try out revision wheels. When I have extra cash sure, but im still paying off my bills from the holidays, theres no way I can rationalize spending 65 bucks on bearings and another 90 on wheels when I just dont have that kind of money laying around.

sass- i can see your point 100% percent. My 9500s came with minis aswell.. i just happend to have 608s lying around from 2 pairs of D1cs and all other skates ive had in the past. I understand your point with the money and i can agree it is alot of money and a process. With the people that have tried the revisions they obviously had 608s so its def. an easier process for them. And for those of you that do have 608s i recommend you try out revisions.. Hopefully in the near future you can try them out

I would love to see a harder Revision wheel brought out! Not all of us are lucky enough to skate on sport court all the time so a harder (78-80a) Revision wheel could be the perfect wheel for me!

It is such a hassel finding the right wheels when you have to find the right hardness, size and bearing size! It just makes life so much harder (when trying to find wheels) when you have 2 bearing sizes (I do realize you can get adaptors rings). IMO the mini bearing revival has only come about because of the fight(marketing) to make all top end skates lighter! I would much rather have a skate that has great durability at a reasonable wieght than a super light, less durable skate (aka XX and mini bearings IMO). I guess though if they made such a skate and tryd to marketed it that way they couldn't really say this is the most durable high end skate, because people would abuse it and the warrentys applications would be endless!

i can understand its hard to find a wheel that is the right hardness.. i would really try out the bronze revisions if i were you. If not i would contact revision and ask them what they think. No better way then to contact the company directly and ask them first hand.

As somone who normally uses a 78A/80A wheel on tile well..used to.. ...I have no issues with the 76A Bronze..the overall stiffness of the Torus gives the feel of a harder wheel..

Good to know, wish they weren't so expensive so I could experiment a little more.

For many people they are expensive but are also tournament caliber wheels. If you think about it if you spend more money you are gonna get more time and use out of them so it may be worth it.

When your not playing on sport court its not the feel (of a hard wheel) its the durability. I reliese that revisions are tournament quality wheels, but a slightly harder wheel would be great (durability wise) for those who aren't lucky enough to skate on sport court all the time, who like quality wheels!
