He's not even ready to wear an "A" let alone the "C". If they end up drafting Kessel, how the hell is Crosby going to help keep him in line next year????

Hopefully, they do a better job with FA's this offseason. They are going to need 1 or 2 veterans with all the youth they're going to have. I bet they sign a guy and make him Captain (kinda like Columbus did with Foote) to help the kids.

If...and that is a big IF Recchi is still there nxt year he'll be Captain.

Assuming the Penguins have the same roster next season, Recchi should get the C. Crosby definately isn't ready for the A. He took that stupid penalty after the first or the second period last night when he went to yap at the official. You don't see Stevie Y or Burnaby Joe doing this.

I'd go out on a limb and say the reason for the conflict is you have a guy like Recchi who has been in the league for years, put in the work, and has had a lot of success, and has been dicked over by the team in favor of Crosby who has done none of these things.

I can see for sure why the vets are pissed off with crosby and his comments, but fact is someone's got to say it. The whole team has been a joke, it probably hurts more because the rookie, and because he is a rookie doesn't make his comments any less valid (just harder to swallow).

Age shouldn't necessarily be a factor to determine a captain or leader of a team.

Age isn't really the issue though. It's about respect in my mind. A captain should be respected by his team. Experience is always a plus as well but the main thing is respect. Who's going to follow someone they can't respect? If Crosby wants the 'C' he should just shut his mouth and lead by example.

Well any issues about Rechi and captaincy are now mute...Rechi will be in a Hurricanes uniform on Sat. night.

I feel bad for Crosby...not only with all the pressure from the expectations, but living with Mario....the boss, the "official" club hero, the captain and probably almost as unpopular as Crosby given all the on/off history he has had even with valid medical reasons, and all the positive press he has gotten even when only playing at 50% or less of his old self(Mario that is).....And as a player you cannot even voice anything, because the guy owns (owned) the team and pays your salary. I think Mario's retirement was as much to distance himself from Crosby as the medical reasons (still valid of course), as was his desire to get out from under the ownership collar. This once he saw what was happening to the "future of the club".

I am sure Crosby got all kinds of advice about taking control of "his team" from Mario, and equally sure all the players were aware of this..hence his immature attempts to step into the limelight and complain. Because of his age and position he is seen as a yappy pup instead of a leader.

If you wanted a prescription to create strife for Crosby you could not have written the script any better. A "teacher's pet" scenario for sure.

They have Malkin and Kessel is either the 2nd or 3rd ranked prospect right now in the draft. Pitts should be bottom 3 so they'll have a chance.
